I'm the second owner of an always dealer maintained off-lease pre owned 2012 all4 (I know not necessarily a good thing). Does anyone know what this loose wire is? My car doesn't have a trailer hitch but maybe this is wiring for that? It's a hot lead straight from the battery.
I'm losing where it disappears above the rear diff into the car.

That is not a stock thing. Do you have a aftermarket trailer hitch installed?

 

That is not factory. The prior owner added something.

 

Thanks , I found the previous owners trailer wiring. Removed it all today.
