R60 Shift knob ring / cap
So I have a problem...the silver cap piece on the top of my shift **** has broken. It was held on with 4 plastic prongs, but these have all sheared off. Not sure how, but I guess 102k miles of shifting pried it off? Anyway, the **** is fine so I don't want to pay ~$80 for a whole new ****. Anyone know of a source to replace that part? I tried hot glue, but that didn't hold. I guess I could try something like jb weld, but don't want to make a mess and then need a new **** if there's a better option.
Checking realoem.com I don't see a separate part listing. If you get fed up and decide to look for a used one, let me know, I'm thinking of upgrading

Did adhesive work and if so what kind? My cap has sheared off in the same manner as yours did. I was going to try epoxy, but I don't want to go through the effort if it's pointless.
I used Loctite quickset epoxy. Worked great...I've had no issues since applying it. I roughed up the back of the cap and the plastic part of the **** with some sandpaper and scored it with a knife some to help hold.
Thanks indianajonesy. I happened to have that same epoxy unopened in my junk drawer and it worked great. Tech specs on that epoxy is that it holds to -10F so hopefully it will hold on the coldest days here.
