Will be installing a new set of tires 225/55/17 on my Countryman tomorrow, has any other member installed this size on stock 17.

thanks a million for the link, not much info on 225/55/17 but more on 225/50/17, I hope they will fit.

 

I don't have them installed personally, but using some available online tools it looks like it should fit. Any time you change tire size its going to have an effect on your speedometer, between the 50 and 55 profile the the 50 has the least effect. Likely why there is so much more discussion on it.

Speedo error -3.05%
Reading at 30mph 29.09mph
Reading at 60mph 58.17mph

205/55 vs 225/55:
Speedo error -6.26%
Reading at 30mph 28.12mph

Great info, thanks for taking the time to explain, I will give you an update tonight after a road test, the vehicle is stock in regards to the suspension and I don't carry heavy items.

 

I have the Continental Pro Contact DWS non runflats in that size and it was the best thing I ever did for a smoother ride. I used to have wicked tramlining but with these tires it all but went away.They do not rub or anything and an added benefit, they look beefier and will help the rims with any curb rash.They are very good tires in the rain and on dry ground. We didn't get much snow this year but the times she went out in the snow, she performed like a champ in the snow. I would definitely reccomend thes tires. Good luck!!

 

Well the tires are now installed and no rubbing, has great look and it seems like I'm ridding higher now... maybe my imagination.
