Blow off Valve

Hey fellow r60 owners. Has anyone thrown a forge dump vaulve or adapter or recirc valve? Been talking to a few people and they say the bov won't work and might throw me into limp mode. But shouldn't the recirc forge valve work?

I have the forge atmospheric adapter and no cel. Can't say I'd recommend it though, its a pain the *** to install and you can't hear it in the car. So really you'd be installing it for everyone else's listening enjoyment. I can't say that it help performance all that much either. Some have noted faster Turbo recovery times but I can't say that I've noticed. Im thinking of selling it and moving to the forge recirculation valve, I heard good thing about it, and since I'm considering getting a manic ECU tune it will do better with higher boost pressures. PM if you are interested in a used atmospheric adapter

Hey LAMBERT,

I installed this Forge Recirc Valve and I am very happy with its sound & performance. Contrary to what others have mentioned, I believe the sound is very noticeable, both inside and outside the cabin. Additionally, the OEM BOVs are notorious for getting dry/heat rotted and cracking, which could cause catastrophic turbo failure. And finally, if you are planning any considerable engine mods in the future, you WILL need an upgraded BOV to deal with increased pressure.

It is a little on the expensive side, but I found this kit to be a perfect Plug-n-Play OEM fit and has worked with zero problems and no CELs.

Drive Safe & Drive Often. Rubber Side Down. Over & Out.

Hey guys. I recently installed the Forge Recirc valve in my GP2. It's installed correctly and everything but makes no sound. Some of you are saying it makes a sound but I got nothing. Any feedback?

Be very careful, if you don't have any sound then its likely not working and can be quite bad for your turbo!

Did you get it new or used? (might need a rebuild)
Is it recirculating or atmospheric? (so we can tell you how loud you should expect)
What color spring is in it? (if it's too strong it will prevent it from opening)

For reference:
Valve Spring color coding: Green - 5-15 PSI, Yellow - 15-23 PSI, Blue - 23-30 PSI, Red - 30 + PSI.

I bought it used with low miles and seller said they had no prior issues with it. It's the Forge recirculating valve. I'm not sure the spring color. It came with two and the red one is still in the box. What do you think the issue is?

I think the spring that is installed spring is too strong, assuming everything is installed correctly, that's what happened to me. Pull it apart and see what color spring is in it. The previous owner could of be running higher boost pressures than you, so no issues for him might mean headaches for you. If it's not green or yellow you've found your issue.

While you have it apart check you might as well check the condition of the o rings. Two inside the chamber, and a really thin one under the cap. Lightly grease them to 1) hold them in place and 2) provide a better seal and lubrication. That top o ring is a pain and likes to move out of place, be careful during reassembly that it doesn't get caught in the treads.

After doing all that, which I'll do tomorrow, if it still doesn't make a difference, then what?

Cry, drink, or pray for divine intervention. Any or all of these, but after all that post here and we will try to help you figure it out.

My forge recirc valve only came with the blue and red spring. I'm running manic stage 2 and went with the red because I push roughly 24psi out of the stock turbo. Do you think I should go to the blue one? I don't hear too much noise when getting off the throttle after a pull.

Those spring value's have me tripping out a little bit. Don't really feel like blowing out my turbo.

Aren't the recirc valve ones a lot more quiet than the atmospheric ones?
