R60 NEED an engine block heater!
NEED an engine block heater!
Hey guys, so I NEED NEED NEED and engine block heater for my new 2016 countryman s all4, but when I asked the dealer he said that mini doesn't even make one and the only option is an oil pan heater and trickle charger which is all fine a well but I live in interior Alaska where it often gets to 20 below and occasionally down to 60 below around February. Has anyone had luck with installing a block heater on their countryman? I know I will probably have to find the parts myself and pay someone to install it but my dealer sounded as if it's not even possible to install on the cm which is something I've never heard of. My car is an outdoor car, so I really just don't want to have issues with starting it. Thanks in advance!
Back when I had a TDI I was looking at getting one of these, http://www.frostheater.com/ you would need to do some custom work to put it in but doesn't seem like it would be more than cutting a coolant hose and finding a place to mount the box.
Did you consider doing a google search for engine block heaters? I found several types, dip stick - freeze plug, listing at Amazon and even Auto Zone. Does the '16 model still have a dip stick or did the dip sticks remove it?
