I upgraded my lights about a year ago, Halogen to Xenon headlights and HID fogs. The other night drove through dense fog and when I turned on the HID fogs, it actually made it worse....started thinking back to my old yellow Hella fogs on my bimmer in the 90's.....
They will do that with led bulbs as fog aftermarket. The New Factory LED on the F56 fogs are a bit different. But, I like the yellow standard bulbs for fogs, seem to work the best and helps also in the snow in white out conditions. Must be the color spectrum of the light.
Yellow works better in fog as it doesn't reflect off of the fog. There is less scattering across the fog so it allows you to see further ahead without less light reflecting back at you. It is why I use yellow fog lights. I grew up in the mountains in Colorado and going down/up I-70 towards the city, that section of the highway saw a lot of fog. I'd turn on my parking lights and fog lights on (headlights off) in sections so that I could see much clearer. (I have big yellow fog lights). You can buy yellow bulbs at your local auto parts store or put yellow film over your fogs as another option.
