Does anyone have this problem??...
I have a 2012 Countryman S (I love it) and when I drove it off the lot it had less than 100 miles. From day ONE, the driver seat goes UP (raises) after being parked. My seat is manual so any electronics miss-havings can be ruled out.
Every morning or every afternoon after work I need to pump the seat down 3-5 cranks.
I have asked the dealer to research, but because it is manual there is nothing to trouble shoot systematically. So 35K miles later...I still have the issue.
I CANT BE the only one out there with this issue....
Thoughts? Ideas? solutions?

I have the same issue (?)
I recently purchased a 2012 Countryman S and thought I was having the drivers seat doing the same thing. I blew it off, thinking I did not lower the seat the last time I drove.
Well, it happened enough that I thought I'd pay attention.
It does it !!
I park in the driveway and insure that it is lowered and check the next day and I find it raised.
I asked a Mini salesman today if that is a feature or a problem. He did not know.
I'll ask my service advisor the next time I talk to him.
Maybe it is a comfort type feature where you don't have to lower yourself so far down when you get in it. Ha Ha. My age is showing.
I don't know if a air piston or something is losing its pressure, allowing the seat to return to the higher position.
I, too will keep searching and when I find something I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I'll follow this thread.

Here's the other thread about it. There's at least one other person with the same problem.

I just purchased a 2012 Countryman S with 27,000 Miles and my drivers seat won’t stay down. I’m fairly tall and can’t comfortably get into the car without having to pump the seat down 3 to 4 first. It’s happening every day so I’m hoping there is a fix to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is extremely frustrating.
Every mini I've owned has done this. My countryman drivers seat did it all the way up to about 60k. Hasn't done it since on the drivers side, but the passenger side does it all the time, especially when it is warm/hot outside. Pretty sure its just the mechanics of it pushing upwards when there isn't weight on it (until it wears in of course ( I haven't pulled it apart, but I'm sure it is spring/piston assisted. It doesn't take much effort for mechanics to lower, but substantially more effort to raise. Much like a floor jack)).
Service guys at mini had no idea why it happens. I know it happens to A LOT of people, I just don't think enough people have complained about it to them for them to have looked into/found the exact cause.

By any chance has anyone removed their drivers seat and looked at the mechanics of how the seat actually adjusts? I ask, because I’m wondering if there is a piston that fills with air when we pull up or push down on the handle? If this is the case, then we should be able to disconnect the linkage preventing the seat from raising on it own.
