My First Mini!!

Ladies and Gentleman! Hello!

My name is Jason, currently living in Sunny Orlando FL, and I just bought my first Mini Cooper two weeks ago.

True Blue Countryman S with black interior. Did some minor add ons so far such as the led running lights, Union Jack mirror cover and sport antenna. My plan is to do much more.

I've always wanted a Mini since my best friend back in 08 bought a Cooper hatchback. She now is on her second Mini, a 2012 Cooper S hardtop, and she had finally convinced me to pull the trigger and get one myself.

Also drive a 2013 VW Passat and a 2013 VW CC. We have German Fever in our household.

Anyways, wanted to say HI!

I'll be posting a lot, I'm sure, as I proceed to mod the car more and more.

Here's some pics of Max. He's kind of dirty and covered in Yellow Pollen.

Hay Jason, nice looking ride.....Congratulations!

What year is your CM? Did you buy it new? I noticed no Countryman logo on the rear hatch back and I like that clean look. I'm awaiting arrival of our new CM ALL4 which we should get this weekend from Fermin Mini over in Tampa. One of my first mod's is going to be removal of the Countryman logo from the back hatch....

Hi Jason, welcome!

sailingmagnus - you can have the dealership remove the countryman label prior to handing it off to you. At least our dealership did that for us.

Thanks!! My CM is a 2012. From what I understand the badge removal is a free option from the manufacturer called "stealth mode", or something like that. I'm not sure if it's an option on the 2014's but it surely was on the 2012. I agree, definitely gives the car a cleaner look.

Welcome! I am also a new '14 CM owner--picking mine up either today or tomorrow. How is your reception with the shortie antennae? Can u tell a difference compared to stock? I've heard mixed reviews. I ordered the shortie also but asked the dealer to let me keep the stock one in case I want to switch back for reception purposes. We'll see I guess!

No problem here, but I have the Cravenspeed Stubby (

I think it is just more for looks. The stock one makes the car look like a RC car.

Dpike - I'll be honest with ya, I'm not very mechanic savy. In total it took me about 4.5 hours to do the lights. The worst part was having to pull on the trim pieces to get them to snap off. Sometimes I felt like with the amount of force I had to use, I was gonna break the clips behind them. However once the front bumper was off it was smooth sailing.

Summerall - from what I understand t

Oops. I hit send with my finger by accident.

Summerall - from what I understand the dealer states the only known issue with the shortie antenna is the possibility of signal loss with AM stations. Since I never listen to AM stations, this wasn't a concern.

Every music source works great. FM, HD radio and SAT all still have the same great reception they had with the stock antenna.

Just noticed I didn't finish the rest of my thread.

Summerall - from what I understand the shortie antenna's only disadvantage is the reception you receive in some rural areas with AM stations. Seeing that I never listen to AM radio this wasn't a concern for me.

Compared to the stock antenna I notice no difference when listening to FM, SAT or HD stations. They sound just as crystal clear with the shortie.
