"Door Open" Signal Constantly On...

So..I took delivery of my Countryman in October and have had an ongoing issue with the car thinking the passenger door is open. This happened once before and it is happening again. The "Door Open" signal shows up as a warning display in the tachometer area and on the MINI Connected screen. The lights in the car won't go out and the car keeps chiming at me. It is so annoying. I took it to the dealer last time and they couldn't replicate it or figure out the problem. However, they discovered that a service bulletin on this issue was issued so they reprogrammed the computer. Now it's happening again.

Ugh. The dealer is not close to me at all and it's really a pain to take it in and wait around for them to "fix" it. They did give me a loaner last time.

Anyone else ever had this issue???

Had that same issue two days after I picked-up my 2014 MCS, I think I pressed my overhead light toggle for more than five seconds. It reset my interior lights and never had that issue again.

(Portions of the following are excerpted from an earlier post of mine to a different thread.)

I took delivery of my 2013 Countryman in December 2012, and had a little excitement at delivery time. After I drove the car away from the dealer, I parked not far away to play around with the technology. I never even got out of the car. When I drove away from there, I kept getting a warning that a door was open. This would not clear up after opening and shutting all the doors, and stopping and restarting the car. It was a major issue because the car was always bitching about it, and if I stopped the car and locked it the alarm would immediately go off.

So I drove back to the dealer (Northwest MINI), and my MA saw the same thing and drove the car straight into the service area. After a couple hours of poking around they found that some part in the door had gotten moisture in it, and this part was new for the 2013 Countryman. Mine was their first 2013 Countryman delivery, and they didn't have the part in stock. They were ready to pirate one off another 2013 Countryman that was dealer stock, but it turned out that that car was not on the lot yet. So they were going to give me a loaner car (another Countryman) until they could get the part and fix it.

I wasn't too keen on leaving my brand-spanking-new Countryman then and there, so I suggested they just bypass that signal for the time being, since it wasn't really much of a safety issue. They did that, and I was able to drive home after that and haven't had any issues or quirks since then.

When I took the car in for my first service in July, they couldn't find anything wrong. They reconnected the sensor, and the issue has not happened again. This would seem consistent with moisture that eventually evaporated.
