Holy Crap...Airborne Today!!

So driving my CMS4 today on the freeway and hit a "slight" dip..next thing I know I four wheels are in the air and so is my ***....like three inches off the seat and when the wheels hit (back first) I almost loose it.....a totally "new" experience for me after two R53s....both lowered...

My CM has 20" 245x30 and HR springs on OEM non sport shocks....whoa, what a surprise....I bought but haven't installed the Way rear sway...but this was an eye opener....going about 75-80 on a straightaway with a "small" dip.....

What did or am I missing/needing? Thanks!

I am not an expert, but it sounds like you may be oversprung.
How did you calculate what you needed for springs? Did you even calculate, or just spend money and bolt shiny things on?

Your wheel/tire choice has a lot to do with this too. You have no give, you're basically riding on solid rubber. I've been there, you're trying to drive show car wheels at performance wheel speeds.

Hard springs, hard rubber... Something's got to give and it sounds like it's your spine.

The 20's were on the car (so I'm unfamiliar) but YES on "style" which is all I know...and while I'm not a real "performance" driver....I guess I possibly reached my car's potential based on its set up today.

Thanks for the education...wouldn't know where to begin....but now know where I need to end (limit) when I do get the urge....

Cant help answer your question but What are the wheel specs on your car? 245 seems perfectly wide. Whats the width and ET of those rims? Awesome looking! Also are there any rubs? thanks

I would suggest getting some stock wheels and seeing how they feel to you. At least go down to 18" wheels with the appropriate tires. 50 series tires would be a better ride. Check out the rim/tire calc, or consult tire rack guy on this forum.

I need to check on the wheel offset...I know the previous owner purchased the set up from Tire Rack....no rubbing at all even with two in the back. Not willing to pour more money into other wheel/tires after only a month owning the car. It ride and drives great overall, I now know that I need to research the overall set up more under higher speeds, and in the meantime will control my driving pattern accordingly. I do appreciate the feedback and in time will come to a decision. Thanks!

Haha I'll occasionally get ALL4 (see what I did there) wheels off the ground on a big bump while traveling at speed. I hit one at 85+ once hard on throttle and traction control actually cut power because we were spinning wheels.... And my car is lowered on 19's... Gotta love MINI! :D

When you, Mini Mango and myself went for dinner after the Wine Run, I got air when we passed that lady that flipped you the bird. It was kind of scary but fun!
