It's Available! JCW Steering Wheel for Autos

It is finally available for the automatics. Ordered mine at Sewell today and with the NAM April discount code it came to a little under $400. Should be in tomorrow so I have a project for tomorrow night.

Is the steering wheel wrapped with leather or alcantara like the Manual JCW steering wheel?

This is a standard steering wheel with red stitching, as shipped with factory JCW vehicles. It is not the fat "JCW Steering Wheel" available in leather or alcantara.

Just got off the phone with Sewell and for some reason this item is a restricted list and the order I placed yesterday was cancelled by BMW??? They are trying to find out why. I will let everyone know if I get any additional info.

Took a ride up to MOP to talk to them in person. Also, wanted to see the GP they had in the showroom. So, the JCW wheel that comes from the factory on the JCW CM is essentially a stock wheel with red stitching, no other difference. The 90 they have in the US are being held for the people that had their autos delivered without the wheel. These wheels will be available at some point but not currently. Honestly, the only difference is the red stitching so I am not sure it is worth the money. So I decided to pick up the JCW Alacantara wheel and modify it to fit the paddles. I read a write up in this over at MA and it is not hard but it does take some patients and nerve to make the cut outs for the paddles on a $350 wheel. Besides the cut outs for the paddles, you need to drill 1 hole to mount the paddles and you are done. Should take about 2-3 hours. Who can guess what I will be doing when the Wife and kids go to bed tonight?

If it's just the stitching you're after, you can cut the current stitching and restitch with red thread. It should be fairly easy.

Dumb question but does anyone know what would happen of you just disconnected the paddles and removed them?
