why are my headlamps different with others?

hi guys,
I'm new to this forum, joined a couple weeks ago after i got my countryman,
after I've looked through many helpful threads here and about to change my headlamps first, I figured that mine are little different then yours.
(i've tried to find a thread about this but it seems like there's none...)

here is a picture of mine

and these are how others headlamps look like

can you see the difference in the covers of the bulb?
is it because of the year make?

and is there anyone had same kind as mine and changed them?
or is there any way i could replace these to look like in the pictures below?

help me out with this please!

Yours are standard halogens, the others are Xenon. If you wanted to change yours out you're going to need complete housings and ballasts. It's a small project & a little pricey.

You're gonna pay through the nose. Plus it's not a simple swap, I believe someone on here has an ongoing project involving rewiring stuff to make it work, and hasn't been 100% successful.

I was quoted at $700 a side before labor. And there could be additional costs as well. That is what was told to me.

im that guy. and i was sucessful. It wasnt cheap though.

Expect to pay about 800 dollars per headlight, plus 400 dollars for the bulbs/ballasts

Then you have to worry about rewiring the the car, and finally you have to reprogram your ECU to know you have xenons, or else they will flash and burn out your wiring harness..

If you can live without OEM there are also places to have your lights retrofitted to HID with projectors. A few Cooper guys have done it with great results.

The cost is about $1000 for both sides and you will need to ship your headlights to them to have them retrofitted.

I have been looking into this for a few months now. There are some good and some bad stories but the good is more common than the bad. The final product looks great and preforms quite well, from what I have seen on various forums.
