I hear the same pop, I have a AT
thinking to upgrade to this :

It's not that loud when you're in the driver seat. Turn off the radio, open the windows, accelerate hard, and then back off the accelerator for a moment. You should hear "pop pop pop."
I have a very new (build July 2012) countryman. Using the sport button I get a faint pop pop from the exhaust, but only when I come off of it sharply from 3/4 or full throttle. When I test drove one back in July it had much more sound from the exhaust. Maybe the newer ECUs are a bit different?
Also been thinking about a ECU upgrade. ECU tuning group can do our cars for $595 and the gains look impressive. It has been discussed on NAM before.

1. The maximum gains from the $500 NM Kit (+35 whp and +56 wtq) can only be had with the addition of an intercooler kit. The $500 NM kit (without the intercooler) rates at +24 whp and +31 wtq.
2. I imagine that at $700 (+labor), the Alta intercooler kit for the R56 might be fairly representative of the additional cost required to get to the NM Stage 2 numbers (+35 whp and +56 wtq). That's at least $1200 for +35 whp and +56 wtq.
3. NM has calculated driveline HP loss to be about 11.38% and driveline torque loss to be about 12.08% for the R56. Those numbers may or may not be appropriate for the R60 S, but I suspect a greater loss (especially on the All4).
4. The $925 Renntech kit expresses their gain (+41 bhp and +40 btq) in brake horsepower/torque without the driveline loss factored in. Using NM's driveline loss factors (11.38%/12.08%), the Renntech gains could then be adjusted to +36 whp and +35 wtq.
Therefore, the Renntech kit delivers +12 whp more than the NM kit and +4 wtq more than the NM kit. Now, it's up to the individual buyer to determine if an increase in 12 whp and 4 wtq over the $500 NM kit is worth an extra $425 ($925 vs $500).
Conversely, it is also up to the buyer to decide whether the additional $275 ($925 vs $1200+) for the intercooled NM kit (bringing -1 whp and +21 wtq vs the Renntech kit) is worth the additional cost.

S engine in regular mode is a bit loud
since we are talking sounds...does anyone think the CMS engine is a bit loud (not in sport mode) either idling or driving around town in low speeds? to me when idling it sounds like a small truck. what do other CMS thinks?
At idle it does sound a bit like a diesel, especially when the engine is cold.
