R60 worst seats ever!
worst seats ever!
hey gang, so I am not the biggest (or smallest) guy out there. About 6' 220lbs. I feel like I do not fit well in the driver seat. It's like I don't fit "in" the seat, I fit "on" the seat.. does that make sense?
The lower seat portion is too short and only provides support to the upper thighs at most, and I cannot sink into the back enough to feel like I'm comfy.
Any suggestions? What have y'all done? Anyone change out their seats for aftermarket? Are the seat rails the same as other Minis?
TIA,
-bg8

I'm 6'2" 190...I think the CTMS seats are very comfy.
There's quite a bit of "adjustment" available. Have you messed with all the various settings?
Aside: you might feel more "in" the seat if you remove your wallet from your back pocket (if that's where you keep it). The MINI's seat bolsters sometimes feel tight where your wallet might hit the seat. This is a good idea in ANY car, BTW.

What a difference 55 lbs makes. There's, kind of, 4 different seats - leather, cloth, vinyl, lounge. You can try them all, but even 5'9" me finds the bottom cush a little short. You can try 'em all, just to see if anything makes a difference or maybe wait for the next gen that shares even more with BMW.
Sealy - who misses his 3 series sport seats.

Sealy, I miss my bimmer seats as well
I feel you too. I am only 5'9" and 230 and the seat does not fit me to well. The upper bollsters are angled to much forward and not out enough for me. They dig into my lats. For me I kind of just push myself into the seat to fit, if that makes sense. Its a good thing that I only live a few miles from the gym because after a workout the seat is worse. LOL!!! My R56 seat seemed a better fit than my CMS. The only thing I have done besides "pushing" myself in the seat is reclining the upper. Sorry for not being to much help.
The lounge leather seats don't have such prominent bolsters and were much more comfortable than the other seats. They seemed wider as well. Expensive but worthwhile upgrade. I am 6'-2 and 185lbs.

I'm assuming you have the sport seats. The standard seats feel wider and have lower bolsters which may be better for you.
The width is a bit of an issue, but the seat bottom being too short is the bigger issue IMO. I sat in a hardtop coupe the other day and the seat felt much better.
Does anyone know if the seat rails are the same as the coupe or clubman? I may go for an aftermarket seat, but no one has been able to tell me if the rails are the same.
Thanks again!

5'9" 180, fit really well in the leather sport seats, the lumbar support does help tuck me in nice and secure. The seat bottoms fit me pretty well too; in previous cars I've missed the thigh support in BMW sport seats, but not in the CMS.
The Leatherette seats are not available with lumbar support from the factory. You can get an aftermarket product to install though.
I trust everybody actually tried out the various seats offered for the R60 during their test drives in order to assess their fit for your frame...right?
We are both anything but svelte and found that the two best seat designs (for us) were the leatherette and the lounge leather. The lounge leather won for fit in the lower back and thighs; the worst (again, for us) was the cloth/leather. Yes, the LL costs considerably more, but I just couldn't purchase a 30K+ car that didn't have comfortable seats.
Perhaps you might be able to trade front seats with somebody who has LL and wants a more sport-oriented fit????

I have & like the leatherette sport seats. These seem to offer the most support. However, they do not breath very well and do not feature the lumbar adjust. They could use that feature.
