New Shocks for Countryman?

I have had my All4 Countryman for over a year and I have begun to notice that the car bottoms out over bad bumps/potholes - particularly with back seat passengers. I expected a stiff ride with the runflats, but the bottoming out is unnerving.

Has anyone experienced this and/or upgraded their shocks to help smooth things out?

I see a lot about run flats - I am aware of the stiff sidewalls (this is my 4th Mini) - this seems to be a shock issue - just wondering if anyone has replaced theirs.

im having the same issue, it's ALWAYS bottoming out. I do have the NM springs but come on, its bad!

Will tires alone fix the prob?

I have the exact same issue and my car has the standard suspension and 225/50r18 NON-runflat tires. its not the tires its the suspension. mine bottoms out some times on the streets when hitting small dips/bumps. And in every bump/dip/pothole/speed hump all the time when I have 3 passengers in the car.

I experience bottoming out too and IMHO opinion is the suspension components are not quite right for the CM considering its weight. I think MINI has to address this bottoming issue...

Just my $0.02 of the matter...

has anyone gone to the dealer to have the suspension checked?

all R60s sold in the us should still be under warranty

there could be a batch of bad springs/shocks out there

my All4 with sport suspension and 18" wheels has not bottomed yet, even with me and 3 250 lb plus passengers, it was "sitting low" but never bottomed and i am pretty sure i was at or near the published gross weight

those of you with lowering springs, i have seen shorter snubbers sold to go with the shorter springs, have you installed them? if not i think you should look into them. i think they were on Ways site?

If you lower it, you should def. trim the bumper stops or egt shorter poly ones.

I took a 600mi road trip over the 4th, I bottomed out 2-3 times on the highway. My CM will be 1 week old Friday.
It now has just under 1Kmi
Sport Sups. & 17's. Its the shock travel that bottoms out, not the tires, etc.

maybe the factory bumps are too long & just get hit too often?

It's almost gauranteed MINI will not fix this. (ie redesign)

The cars with Sport Suspension (higher rate springs and stiffer valving in struts) may be more resistant to bottoming. Perhaps adding the stiffer struts from the Sport Suspension would help the CMs with standard suspensions.

I've got the sports suspension, lowering springs, and the modified bump stops along with 18's. I've not notice the car bottom out so far; there were some rough patches of road but nothing bad.

With four adults and boot cargo in my 2012 MCSCm, standard suspension, original 18" RF, over San Diego streets with their annoying surface gutters, no bottoming out experienced.

Had my car in for warranty work - they checked the suspension and said they could find nothing. Maybe not, but methinks the weight of the car is creating an issue. Oh well - just have to live with it.
