R60 White rims.....how dirty do they get?
White rims.....how dirty do they get?
Thinking about ordering a CMS - Royal Grey with White Roofs/Stripes/Wheels. My previous Coopers were Silver rims. Just wondering if they are a pain to keep clean or not too bad.
my 18" turbofans in white stay very clean, no brake dust problem at all and they do not seem to get dirty driving in the rain either
go fot it!
i get the most comments about my white wheels

Depends on your brake pads and the type of driving you're doing. I would not have white wheels if my commute was on a city beltway. But if most of your driving is highway and very few stops and you have a set of low-dust pads, you'll be fine.
I'm OCD about my MINIs and I wiped down my wheels every two days even before I had the white ones put on.

So I've had 2 mini's in the past, and swore the next one I bought would be either White or Green w/ Black roof/mirrors/wheels. After seeing the Royal Gray w/ White, it's really got me tempted!
I think it's not too bad for the Turbo fans because the gaps are pretty large for any brush or hand, plus the spokes are quite shallow.

just want to state again that on my march 2012 build CMS All4 with white 18" turbofans, i get virtually NO BRAKE DUST on the wheels.
Mini must have changed brake pad compound as this car makes less brake dust than any i have ever owned, including my Sonoma p/u with "ceramic" brake pads. also want to say that whatever the compound is, they work excellently, no fading (tested brake fade by going 100 to 0 ten times in a row, still had a firm pedal and no fade evident) and this is the shortest stopping vehicle i have ever owned, must give some credit to the "summer tires" too
as for how they last, we will have to wait, as i have only 4,000 miles on them so far
i have gone 3 weeks without washing the wheels and they still showed no brake dust
i have waxed the wheels

My better half just got an All4 Countryman S with the same wheels. She thinks there's no brake dust on them but my discerning eye sees the thin layer of brake dust after a couple of days. It's not bad, but it's there. Nothing like on my 06 Cooper before I swapped out with ceramic pads.
