Spotty stripes

The stripes in the front hood have rusty spots. I don't see spots anywhere else. The rear stripes are fine. I tried some polish and it didn't work. I'll try a cleaning polish when it cools down.

Any thoughts?

Looks like water spots. Rear stripes don't have as many or any because they're on a vertical surface. Probably from a light rainfall on a dusty MINI.

Hard to get very far with a fine hand polish and I would not use a heavy or even moderate grain polish on vinyl stripes. And claying stripes is a dicey proposition but can be done if you go over them verrrrry gently.

Best bet... a fine polish and random olrbital buffer.
