window tinting

Sorry if there was already a post on this but I wanted to know what brand and % (front and back) did you guys get for your car? I am going to get my windows tinted in a few hours. The guy at the shop told me about getting either 3M or SunTek. I want to get the front windows a little lighter than the back but want to make sure the front and back blends in well. Any pics would be greatly appreciated too

Both those brands are a good choice! As far as percentage, it depends on just how dark you like to go (and your local laws of course). If you like really dark go with 5% back 15% front. Or 15% back 20% front. If your not really into "dark" then maybe 27% back and 35% front. I've never had acctualy done a car with it but, I guess the really good tint is ceramic something-er-other now a days.

When mine gets here it will be 20% all around.

Thanks so much! I am in California so no tinting in the front so I don't want it too dark. 27% back and 35% front sounds pretty good. Thanks again!
Can't wait to see pics of your Mini when you get it!

Just had mine done today, 50% Solargard Window Film all around. Wanted a clean look. In Nova Scotia it's illegal to tint driver & passengers side windows hopefully I'll be ok since it's pretty light.

My PW/Black MINI I went 20 on the rears 35 on the doors and constantly worried about being pulled over, but never was even though 70 is all that is allowed by NY State law.
My current Cooper I went 35 on the rears and 50 on the doors.
On the Countryman I am considering 3 levels of tint..20 on the rear 3 windows, 35 on the rear doors and 50 on the front doors...anybody else try that on their Countryman ?

I got 3M 35% on sides and back. No front window full tint allowed. Not too dark so night vision isn't impacted badly. Still looks sharp!
YMMV

I went with 20% in the rear and 35% in the front with the 3m in grey, was going to go semi metallic bt am still contemplating blacking out the chrome. It is one level below legal here but turned out just right, so they can still see a siloettte. Still trying to decide if I am going to get the sunroofs tinted, but goong to wait till it gets warmer here to see if I really need it, and if it wil make the current tint even darker.

I had mine done at TechnaGlass and I don't know what brand of tint they use - I think it's 3M? The percentages are 20% and 15%. I like it.

Is there any tint to the factory glass, or is it just clear?

My Coopers '02 and '06 both have some tint to start which
adds to whatever tint you add...extra darkness !

Did 20% all around on my last mini and while it looked great, the 20% was too dark on the front windows at night in anything but well lit areas.

Can I have some more pictures posted of Countrymans and the percentage of tint? Ours is being redone this weekend and I would like to see other examples so I can get the tint right. We currently have 30% all the way around and I am debating going darker.
