New Countryman Problem

I've experienced a weird problem. Our 2012 Countryman with 1,800 miles on it experienced a yellow check engine light (outline). Reduced gas mileage. Took it to the dealer they indicated a DMTL pump failure and then said Mini told them to replace the entire gas tank.

Mini told me that the tank will take 3 weeks to come from Germany.

Has anyone heard of this?

Not the tank (that I've read about) but, I believe there have been a few fuel pumps replaced.

My Countryman S lost power going home and I had to pull into the center lane where it stopped. Called the roadside mini service and they picked up the car and took it to Charleston to the shop. I'm in Myrtle Beach so it's 100 miles away. Turns out it was out of gas because the gauge didn't read correctly. Some part of the gas tank was a malfunction from production. I just hadn't had the gas get that low. Funny thing is I had just passed the gas station amd remembered I needed gas but thought I'll stop at the next one but didn't make it! They had to order the part from overseas so I didn't get my car back for over a week.

Also I had the symbol light too and I had called the Mini of Charleston about it. He told me lots of minor things could set that light on even pumping gas if I pumped more gas after it stopped - like you do when you are trying to round it up. He said they'd check it out next chance I got to Charleston. But again it's 100 miles away so I hadn't got there. But it turned out that they had it hauled down there and back! So no prob now!

Glad you were at least in a safe area when it happened.

My manual says to do two more clicks after the pump shuts off on its own...

When filling your car and the pump shuts off. Stop at that point and don't try and round up. The tank needs area for expansion and topping it up can cause issues.
FYI. You won't get that much more in anyway.
