R60 More Hp All4 S
More Hp All4 S
If I change the exhaust to a Borla and add a cold air intake system will I get any more horsepower out my Countryman? This has now become my car since my wife has taken the Grand Cheroke over. So I am going to make it mine with some upgrades and hopefully more HP. her GC has 360 HP so I am trying to get my weight to HP ratio up a little. Thanks minigus
Congrats on your inheritance. You'll pick up a small bit from the CAI and even less from the Borla cat back only (system I have). Borla has a satisfying tone though aside from the drone around 70mph. Sadly, unlike the earlier Minis, apparently you can't just put on a new pulley to get a huge increase in power. At least not with the Countryman engine. Consensus seems to be an intake, maybe a new turbo valve or two, a full exhaust and a ECU remap is needed to get 30+ horses more. ECU remap is the biggest factor.

There's an article in the latest edition of European Car magazine with an upgraded 2012 Royal Gray Countryman S that includes a 30 HP increase.
Pretty impressive objective and subjective results according to the author.

Oh and it's the box next to your fuses up top. A bolt or two and it comes right out. I started to arrange for overnight shipping with one firm, but ended up with a sensor spoof box instead. Price is usually over $500.

tmcmotorsport.com tuning box (For MINI version, it uses MAP and boost sensors and fools the ECU to build more boost). Mixed feelings. Definitely works in terms of low end torque, but you will get more CELs, especially when changing gears. Also, while a pulley and a tune on an older MCS is like day and night versus stock, this isn't. I'm still hoping to find a tuner near TX some day with a dyno and good record doing Countryman All4s.
That's an NM tune - unless something better comes along that is where I am going
I have a ECU remap that I gained close to 50 lb/ft and 30 h/p from... then I put on a full exhaust: Akrapovic DP (No CEL's because I spaced out the bottom 02 sensor with an 18mm in diameter spark plug spacer), then I went with a JCW midpipe (I cut all the silencers out of that) and then a JCW backbox. Then I went with the NM Eng intake and heatshield. Car has gained a HUGE amount of power! I have the dyno results but those were after the mods and the car needs to be retuned to make the most of the mods... After I have the ECU reflashed again, I'll throw my ALL4 on a AWD dyno again and see what kind of numbers it'll put up!

I have a '11 R60 with a stage 3 manic tune, milltec catless downpipe, 3" milltec exhaust, AFE PRO Force 5R intake and my car is pushing 278 whp. Approximately $3700 and to tell you it is a beast. Most high powered cars hate me. Want to push over 300 but need to rebuild bottom end first, stock these cars can only handle 280-294. But this could be your starting point to best her in the p/w ratio
