My mini is my first mini and I bought it used. All my previous cars, I have taken to quick change oil businesses to get the oil changed. But after reading around this forum, I think I should change my own oil. If I do, where do you dump your used oil?

Thanks
Unlikely that a 'quick change' type place will have the correct filter, LL BMW certified synthetic, or experience to do the job correctly.

However that type of shop (and most others in my area) as well as our recycling centers will take used oil. Against the law to dump it.

I'll look later today to see if the newest R60 cars show this as well.
I just called Irvine Mini here in Orange County and the service adviser had not heard of the 10,000/12 interval. I asked him to check some R60 stickers, he's going to call me back he said.

For getting rid of the used oil most places like Pep Boys or Auto Zone have free dumping containers.

i would look for a new dealer, seems the irvine dealer is not keeping up with all the service updates published by mini

my dealer service writer knew more about it than i did, that even that tho the sticker shows 10K miles, the OBC shows 9K intervals and that it was an 03/2012 running change

went to my dealer the day after the news of the smoke tail lights/black trim ring news broke, they already had the kits on order, sadly they are still on order.

So will the new intervals only apply to cars that were built 3/12 and after or will previoously built minis still under the maintenance plan now be eligible?

1290 miles is how long I went.

pretty easy oil change I think. The hardest part was keeping oil off my camera. The second hardest was getting to the filter.
