3m Clear Bra Question

I have had my 2012 All4 CMS for about a total of three weeks. I had the clear bra installed by the dealer’s preferred installer before delivery. I have noticed in several places where the edged has slightly peeled up and debris is sticking underneath the bra. Is this normal? The bra is a 3m product which comes with a five year warranty. I am thinking about contacting the installer to see if they will replace the entire bra. Thanks

yea if it's peeling, then it should be covered under warranty. Reason why it's peeling is because the installer probably didnt remove the wax thoroughly and the film is not sticking.

I'm curious what it cost to have the bra applied? Seems like a smart thing to do.

This is definitely a bad install. I had a clear bra on my BMW and the same thing happened to it, buy it was not around the edges. It was along the line across the hood where the bra ended. They didn't reinstall all the pieces, just that large piece that was peeling up, but it was under warranty and it worked out fine.

Thanks for the advice. The cost for the install was $599 for the hood, bumper, and mirror caps. Pricing can vary a lot depending on how much of the car gets covered by the film.

Have them reinstall it

30 days after I received my CM with dealer installed bra I was having my car serviced and a tech at a private shop noticed that there was some "fuzz" under the bra.
The weird thing was you could only see it from one angle - but from that angle it looked like there was a 2" defect in the the plastic. He said whoever did the bra should replace it.
I brought it to the dealer - they agreed it should be replaced so they did! They should replace yours too. The markup is high on any of the shield products and probably take the installer less than an hour to replace.

I'm having the same problem on my GTI that was done just before Christmas by a local shop. I'm gonna take my back in the next few weeks. The edge on the mirror is coming up and two places on the bumper. I'm really disappointed with the install. I had them do my pickup years ago and they did a excellent job. I had the windows tinted at the same time and its a mediocre job to say the least. I will not bring my new Mini to them that for sure.

No problems with mine. Used a 3M certified installer. He came to my house, did it in the garage and told me not to drive until the next day. He also told me to run my finger along all the seams a few times (when it was newly installed) to make sure all the edges were securely adherred. I do like mine for the protection it offers for highway driving. Mine was $720 - 3/4 hood, full front bumper, mirrors.

Any thoughts on comparing a clear bra to Permacoat? My CMS was completely permacoated and I ave a 3 yr paint/body guarantee. They re-coat once a yr and I shouldnt clay it. They'll even fix small dents.
