Hi threar, any concerns or issues driving in Colorado with a four driving light setup? I'm considering putting this on my Countryman this year. State law only allows four total at any given time apparently. Also any issues with engine airflow with the four Hellas mounted?

Cheers.

For 'legal' use the usual procedure is to enable power to the auxiliary lights separately, then the selection of fog or driving is done when you select low or high beams, respectively - that way only 4 lights are running at any one time.

They are a nice, traditional styling enhancement for a MINI, but the xenons do extremely well on their own...

Yeah I agree the Xenon headlights are brilliant. I think I will wire the driving lights to the high beam, however I will also wire a kill switch between them so that they are disabled for normal driving. Thus when I do use them they will come on simultaneously with the high beams.

This is a good set up, I have run 3 minis with hella 500s this way.

On my CM, I didn't even bother with running the switch into the cabin, just left it out of the system. If you ever need to "turn them off", just unplug the relay....

We have had Xenons on all our minis, but the Hellas really help on our deer infested back roads!

So I ordered the VIP quad light bracket for Hella 500's and unfortunately due to having the Alta intercooler, could not install the center bracket. After speaking with VIPS, this is a known issue. Has anyone worked around this issue?

I've got a set of Hella 500's (Black Magic) sitting under the Christmas Tree... Roll on Boxing Day!

I'm not a fan of the OEM driving lights honestly. But I will get driving lights on mine one day, probably way down the road, but I'll have a replica of this setup custom made from fiberglass:
