Black headlight housing

Anyone ordering the black headlight housings? We have our order in, but no production number assigned. Seriously thinking about modifying the order to include. It'll be cosmic blue with white top and tunnel spokes...thoughts?

The black headlights look great with dark colors. Go for it!

Only thing is if you order them you can't have adaptive headlights. I choose the adaptive headlights over the black housings. I wish you could have it both ways!

Hi. I am a new guy. I've been watching awhile now and finally placed the order for my Countryman on Wednesday. I hope to get it around the end of October. I wanted the black headlight housing as well for my pure red but was told it wouldn't be available until the second week of November. There is no way I could wait that long do I proceeded without them. I did get the adaptive headlights as well but didn't know that precluded the black housings. Really enjoying the forum.

does anyone know why the adaptive lights are not available with the black housings? i was unable to wait till November to get my countryman with the black housing, and im kinda scared to put my headlight housings in the oven to black them out myself. the last thing i want is to have to replace them due to it now working out well, they are not cheap at all

Good luck on the "end of October". I ordered 3 weeks ago with nothing special that would hold it up, and although I had a production number from the day I ordered it's still not been given a production date. My dealer says I should have it in 8 weeks from the time I ordered (November 2nd would be 8 weeks) but it's getting harder and harder to believe. I call the Ask Mini phone number several times a day, when it finally gives me a date I'll probably pass out :-) I'm just not very patient.

Although I don't dislike the black head lights, I like the chrome more. I just don't care for the all blacked out look...for myself that is.

Welcome and come often. You'll learn more about these rides here than anywhere else. If you have a question about anything, the answer will be found in these hallowed pages.

I ordered black housings for my JCW... No idea if the Canadian Coopers loose the adaptive headlight feature or not. It's not documented anywhere I've been able to find.

So long as I have the xenons I'll be happy.

Can these be retro-fitted (on a Countryman with factory fit Xenons)?

I have both black headlights and adaptive xenons on my 2012. Unless they dropped this recently, you can have both.

I love both options...

I got them on mine and love the way the look on my 2012. When I first built and ordered they were not available together but like Verc stated, the two options are now available together. Good Luck!

How did you manage to do it yourself Geoffrey? Could you order a part to retrofit or did you dismantle the housing and spray it? How hard was it to do?

I dismantled the whole headlight and sprayed it. Bubba's old. I didn't have the option to have the factory do it. There's a write up in the mods section.

It is funny to see people say they have both black and adaptive. When I was configuring mine it was one or the other. The blacks look great and my son wanted them so I went with black over adaptive.

My car will have adaptive xenon's and black housings. Why wouldn't you be able to have both these days?

When the option for black was first introduced, it was a one or the other for some bizarre reason. Mini seems to have rectified this now.

The online configurator wouldn't let you, but my MA told me no problem and we could do it.
