This should be my ship!

Alright, I'm excited. The Platinum Ray just pulled into Bremerhaven. My new 2012 CM has been at the port waiting transport for 2 weeks.

It should load tomorrow and set sail for Port Hueneme. Then only a 21 day voyage plus VDC and shipment to Colorado!

Mine left production on 8/31 so I'm hoping it makes that ship. So far the VIN hasn't shown up on cargo tracking, but it doesn't depart until tomorrow. Have you been able to track your VIN yet?

Hope we can be shipmates!

No, not yet but you should be on the ship if you left production on 8/31 and you are bound for Port Hueneme in CA.

We may never be able to track our VIN on the 2wglobal site as it appears people who have vehicles on the ships bound for Port Hueneme have not been able to track their VIN using the track and trace option.

But in a few days, ASK MINI should change your status as "En Route" rather than awaiting transport.

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping for. I'd hate to miss the ship by a day or two and have to wait a few extra weeks. Especially since I'm MINI-less as of this week. (Not car-less, but I do feel a bit incomplete.)

Was your MA able to give you much info or confirm you're on the ship? I'm about to email mine but he's not been super helpful with this kind of stuff, so my hopes are low.

No, I haven't spoken to my MA. I just call ASK MINI and get the most recent status. Mine has been at the port since Aug. 29th and I just missed the Toscana which left on Aug. 27th. So I am assuming that I am now on the Platinum Ray which will leave port 9-9-11, head to South Hampton, pick up a few more Minis, then off to the panama canal and finally Port Hueneme, CA.

I would almost guarantee that if you ordered a CM, it was completed on Aug. 31, and your destination port is Port Hueneme, CA then you are on the Platinum Ray.

I watched the minis being transported to the Platinum Ray last night on the web cam. There were a lot of them as well as a lot of BMWs.

Bay Girl,

Our Light Coffee was completed on Aug 19 (ordered on July 18)and shipped on the 31st. My thought throug out this entire process was that orders are filled on two basic criteria. 1, each dealer has a set amount of slots for each Mini Model each month. and 2. colors have to be scheduled based upon orders. Thus if there are only 6 Light Coffees ordered, a wait will occur until there are more to make it economically feasible to produce that color. Thus people's wait times.

The color batching was my understanding too. Must be pretty to see all those Light Coffees coming off the line and driving onto the ship at once. I finally saw the color in real life on a lot last weekend. Really looks great in the sun! I always wanted the hot chocolate Clubman which is darker, but now I'm happy with the coffee look.

BayGirl22,

My wife actually wanted the CM in Hot Chocolate. so we decided on the LC with Black roof and mirrors after seeing it in person. The LC looks so different in the sun. then when the black is mixed in, it looks sooooo good!!!!! .

Did anyone get confirmation from their MA or the VIN website that they are on the Platinum Ray? I still can't tell if my CM made it to the port in time. I tried ASK MINI and they said they lose visibility at the port. The OL says "waiting for transit" still, but I don't trust that site. My MA has not given me any useful information the entire time and he's just said that he thinks I can expect it in late Oct - no idea what that is based on. I'd like to know if its on this ship or if I'll be waiting an extra 2 weeks.

There seems to be a problem with using a VIN for tracking on the WW ships bound for Port Hueneme. No one on the last ship Toscana and so far no one on Platinum Ray can get the Track and Trace option to work.

But my Mini CM was ordered Aug. 2, Completed production on Aug. 29th, shipped Aug. 31st, and has been waiting at port since August 31st.

I just called ASK MINI today and the automated system reports the mini now as "In Transit" from "Waiting at Port" that it was reporting yesterday.

Therefore since my Mini is Port Hueneme bound it must be on the Platinum Ray. As I write this the Platinum Ray is headed out of South Hampton towards Manzanillo Panama.

I too had the problem with the WW ship tracking sight and emailed their customer support people. They came back and told me that the Port Hueneme system does not have the information in the right format to fit in with the WW system. So basically no one on the west coast can get tracking info on their MINI for the WW site.

My CM was at the port 3 days before the last boat left, but it still didn't make it on. Is that unusual? :-(
