How much is changing engine oil cost?

I just want to know how much it cost to change the engine oil at another dealer. Here in Ramsey, New Jersey, it's about $110.

Outside of the 3 years of free maintenance (or 4, if you bought it), I'm pretty sure my local dealer charges right about what you're saying.

$75 at my dealer. Have a current coupon for oil change + tire rotation for $59.95.

EDIT: '09 MCS.

I thought they came with zero cost maintenance for 36K miles or 3 years. Why are you being charged by a dealer?

When it is done outside of the normal maintenance schedule.

Yes, it is done outside of the normal maintenance and why the price is not the same at all of the mini dealer?

Dealers set their prices independently. Don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to it.

Oil changes take a little time and a little skill, but they can be done on your own at home if you're willing, and for considerably cheaper over time.

I can't believe anyone would pay for an oil change. Much cheaper to do it yourself.

Those are all steep prices for an oil change. Is there a reason for this?

Syenthic oil only....and only a few oils are bmw/mini approved...(they do tend to be very good)
so 5 quarts, at about $6 a quart....add a $10 filter...., then disposal (or free heating for the shop)....then the customery bmw/mini/any old dealer upcharge= about $75-$100. Simple.

WOW! I knew it was synthetic only, but didnt think it would be that much. I guess being that its required every 5k miles it may actually be about the same as what I pay for my STi... doesnt require synthetic oil.

Key is required....the smart folks who plan on keeping their cars do it every 5000...
not to start another debate, but I guess folks that have a high burn rate of oil could wait....the replenishment (Adding a quart) of the oil will add extra additives...will not remove the contamants, but better than running out or running oil with what is referee to as low tbn (basicly worn out addatives).

I only say do the 5000 mile oil changes because having been a mini owner for a long time, I have seen folks that say the 15000 is what mini sages, so do it ( mini once said cvt tranny fluid was lifetime....then long life....we all know how mini "changed" their minds), but if you plan on having reduced longterm ownership costs, a diy oil change is a cheap ins.

Ohhhh. I thought 5k was what Mini required. Its 15k miles per oil change?!?! Wow! If thats the case then $100 per oil change isnt bad at all.

Give this guy a call:

Frank Da Silva
ECP Auto Service - Newark, NJ
12 SOMME ST • NEWARK • NJ • 973-589-5871

Specializes on European Cars and he is a MINI Owner.

Frank works on my R52 because it is out of warranty...Oil Changes are usually under $75. Frank uses European Spec Synthetic Oil recommended for BMW/MINI and uses OEM Oil Filters.

If you don't want to start a debate, maybe you shouldn't start off your post implying those of us who have not been duped into short OCI intervals are not smart. Do you see how that works?

If your hourly rate earnings is hire than the cost for someone else to do the oil change it makes absolute sense to pay someone to do it....

Not mechanically inclined...takes me 10 minutes to get to ECP Auto Service...puts it on the lift...don't get my driveway dirty...less than half hour to get it done...my hands are clean...don't worry about getting rid of old oil...for under $75 or less.

ECP Auto Service had done SS Exhaust Tips on my CM...Oil Changes, One-Ball Mod, Suspension work, Change RFs, and getting ready to put in a 17% pulley.
