hmm, looks better in the rear than the front. I thought about doing that too, thanks for posting the pics. I think the head lights have so much chrome/silver inside that the p/d doesn't work as well.

I think it would look nice if you did the Grill and Grill Trim. That would tie it all together.

I think it looks great!!! Did you spray or dip? I've never heard of the stuff. Can you do it in different colors, how hard to apply, etc? Definitely distinct!

The beauty of plasti dip is you don't need to. Its a rubber like substance and just peels right off if theres any over spray. you can blue tape around the edges to help though

The rear lights can be removed by going thru the boot, you have to pull back the felt cover. And get a 8mm socket wrench in there to loosen the nuts. The whole light will come off ,there are four nuts but if you get two nuts loose the light should start to wiggle free. Then the trim has to be pryed away from the light. Its not as bad as it sounds just go slow.
And thats only for the Countryman, all others I believe has clips and you can just pry them up with trim tools or a screwdriver with something on the end to prevent marring.

This looks awesome! Leave the grille though...I think that would be "Plasti-Dip" overkill >__> Though you didn't hear that from me....

I think it looks awesome! I've read about it but I know nothing about it. Could you give us newbies a primer? What steps you did...

I'm debating on doing the same thing.

I tried and tried. It seemed like it wanted to come off in some areas and then it wasn't budging in other areas. One of my clips was starting to split. I gave up. I will wrap them..

Good news is the wrap showed up last night.. I know what I'm doing after work..

in 2012, you can get the blacked-out headlight bezels on the CM. I think that they, together with your plasti-dipped trim, would make the front look fantastic! Call the parts person this October and see what can be done!

Thanks to all who gave feedback! Still not sure about teh headlight treatment, but we'll see. A local MINI member told me that Plasti Dip comes in white so i might try that on the front.....definitely keeping the back ones black.
To those asking about install, ease, etc...one word...EASY! This stuff sprays on evenly, matches the color and texture of the wheel arch trim and rest of the black trim MINI uses all over....will take 3-4 coats to get even coverage, etc.
Getting the tailight rings off was a bugger, but they did pop off. I used a screwdriver and cloth, stuck it between the red tailight lens and the plastic ring and worked my way around. Start at top(see pic) and slowly add pressure along the longest side...It will eventually pop off. I will attach a photo of what the clips around the tailight housing looks like "bare" so you guys can see what it looks like and where to apply pressure for the clips to release.
The great thing about plasti dip is if you don't like it, it peels right off in one piece. Available at Lowes, etc.

Looks good, I really think you need the anthracite grill to set it off to full effect.

I like the plastidip in the back, but having it in the front kind of makes it look like the car has eyeliner on.

I have done the Joey Mod in a few cars I've had in the past. The 3 series was just clipped together not clued. What temp did you use to loosen the glue? I'd like to see the pics you mentioned.. Your xenons look good, but I have halogens...

Actually I like the look on the headlights better than the tail. Though it helps that I knew you had named it Bandit .
