My father in law has the JCW carbon fiber cover for his Mini Hardtop and they look incredible, but I'm not paying $800 for mirror covers! I really do like the black and white Union Jack covers. I will most likely get them but I was wondering if anyone has installed them themselves or has pics of them on their ride they can share..

I have checkerd mirror covers they are off my R56, turning a bit yellow, need to replace them soon.

 

So how many years has it been? At least I'll have the originals to put on if they fade or change colors..

 

isnt the greatest picture but we have the black jack mirrors and the roof decal as well. LOVE the look.

I would say 2.5 years, had no idea until after this happened that this is an issue that happens with all checkered mirror caps (and I guess any replacement cap that has white in it and are not painted), and nothing can be done to repair them. Would have made more of an effort to keep them waxed and polished if I did, as I'm sure this prolongs the effects of the sun that causes it.

 

i've seen some Union Jacks (the colored ones) that looked pretty worn - made me rethink putting them on my vehicle. For that matter any caps that are plastic and painted should probably be waxed regularly. My red (body color) caps in my miata looked real bad after three years....

 

The only set of Union Jack mirrors I have seen where red white and blue on a used Mini on the dealers lot and they were faded also maybe the black and white will hold up better..

Any know where I can buy stock white or black Countryman R60 mirror caps? I just bought my Countryman and it has the checkered caps and i think i prefer stock white or black.

Cheaper? Sure it's fake. But much harder to install the vinyl compared to real covers

 

Thanks Island Maser, those sound like a good deal. However, I think I want to keep things clean by staying with stock white or black caps.

 

Had the black when delivered, switched to Black Jack, and now have JCW Red ones.....

 

Had the red JCW caps and ducts waiting for the CM-S to arrive.

 

I have the black and white union jack covers. I love the way it looks with my white CM.

Ordered it that way when we had it built. Clear lens covers were an option. I also have de-yolked headlights and side lights(switched to non orange bulbs)
