More Bad News

I posted last week that my MA couldn't order my CM with the NAV. He said the system kept spitting it out. They are having problems getting some of the major parts for the NAV. He asked me if I wanted to order it w/o the NAV. After much deliberation, I decided to go w/o the NAV so I could possibly have the car in my lifetime. So I called the MA today and told him that I could live w/o the NAV as long as I had the MINI connected. He then told me that I also can NOT order the MINI connected. I'm so frustrated right now. So, I told him to keep my deposit check (from 3 weeks ago) and keep trying to enter my order for my CM the way I intended. I'll just have to be patient and wait. Hopefully they'll get their **** together soon.

This is because some of the parts for NAV and MINI Connected are made in Japan and they can't get any for a while.

Hi! I do understand that the delay is due to the parts for the MINI connect and the NAV being made in Japan, and considering what Japan has been going through, my small inconvenience seems even more trivial. But, you'd think MINI wouldn't have been putting all of their eggs in one basket, so to speak. You'd think they would have had some type of back up plan for parts.

Not enough volume to warrant two suppliers.

not on a car with less than 15k units. There are MANY other manufacturers having difficulties with parts. Hell you can only get a 5 series with NAV right now, so they're "giving it away free" as they can't sell you one without right now anyways

Ordered our Mini Countryman All 4 S Automatic without Connected/Nav in Late April. We're being told it will take us until September to get the car.

Jedi.....So sorry you're being affected by this also! I'm sure the wait will be worth it though. They haven't even given me a ballpark range of when I could expect mine.

This shortage will be interesting as I have had a failure with the Sat radio side of the Sat/Nav unit and a replacement unit was ordered last week. IF there is a shortage at the assembly end it may effect the replacement parts side also. I will update as to when my new replacement system comes in.

@jedi & @ jersey

hey folks. not sure if this helps you or not, but I've been working with my MA for the last month on incoming R60s. I decided I wanted exactly what I want instead of waiting for a 90% match to come through and last Friday, I test drove and was ready to order & put down a deposit. At that point, my MA told me he couldn't place the order or wouldn't take a deposit until he had more information on the process since I wanted Nav, connected & auto and couldn't tell me if it would be a month or 4 months.

My MA told me that he'd contact me when orders were accepted, but at that time he didn't know when that would be. I told him to have a good summer and to let me know when orders opened back up so I could jump in line thinking it'd be a few months based on reading here and the uncertainty. He told me he'd contact me when something was known.

Surprisingly, he called me on Memorial Day to let me know he/his group got word from MINI on the plan forward. 2012 model orders will open in June sometime with 2012 production starting in July and the restrictions on Nav, connected and auto would be lifted. Delivery would be ~75 days from production (that aligns with the September others are reporting).

I placed an order and deposit down based on a 2011 spec sheet. He did say that some of the packages were being updated/regrouped to provide "more value" (not sure what that means) and that some 2012 options (like bench seat) are expected to be added and others may be removed. He's going to contact me once he has details on available options and pricing so I can finalize my spec sheet, but that my order would be placed based on the 2011 spec sheet so that I can get into queue and we can alter things before production.

Hopefully this helps. I'll let you know if anything happens on my end, but if you hear/learn anything, please share! I think the record for longest wait is going to get smoked.

@ Rktcyntst

Thanks for the information! We were thinking about waiting for the 2012 at this point and getting the bench seat in the back. I heard rumors that the pricing of the 2012's would be 1-2% above what they are now though. I'm curious to see if they have any offers to help offset any cost difference.

I didn't hear about the package changes yet though so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they will include some of the stuff I ordered. Pretty much none of the options I ordered were grouped up in a package.

A. Sunroof
B. Arm Rest
C. Xenon Lights,
D. Auto Dimming Rear View, and Side Mirrors
E. Car Alarm

I was going through the same problems last month. I had ordered an automatic transmission with connect, but without navigation. I was told what everyone else here was about the parts shortages, and no longer being able to get connect without Nav and so on.

Somehow, my salesman was able to get me the Navigation at no cost. But he still was uncertain of the build time because of all that has been going on.

Well, I just got a call from him earlier this morning and my car was built and is waiting to be shipped.

So the waiting will go on for a little bit longer, but we are getting there.

Glad to hear they ate the cost of the navigation and it won't be too much longer to get your Mini!

I ordered my CM on April 18th. It has taken longer than most of the orders people have mentioned on here, but with all the problems I guess it is not that bad of a wait. He said i should be taking delivery in a few weeks.

Thats what I ended up doing. Missing one or two small things, but it was worth it to get the $1000 RTR coupon and not wait will fall.

Wow-if it's that difficult to get Nav right now, I smell a profit opportunity...

Anyone want a slightly-used and fully-loaded CMS w/Nav?!

Yeah, not only is it the NAV and Connected that are causing the fits for MINI and other manufacturers, its the transmissions also. See, our new CM has an automatic transmission and it is produced where, you got it, JAPAN! So, I was told by a VERY large stealership in Houston that there were no more Countryman coming to the GulfCoast until after Sept. Keep your chin up, we love our connected.
