R60 Countryman-S Break-In?
Countryman-S Break-In?
Picked up a non all- Countryman S, Crystal Silver last week. I was in such a hurry to get it on the road, I forgot to ask about break-in details.
Did anyone get covered on the minimum number of mlles and the range for rpm and such?
Will appreciate any info...
Thnks!!

From the manual....
First 1200 miles...
Among other things....
-Stay below 4500 rpm
-Go easy on the clutch
-Vary speeds... Do not stay at one speed for too long...
There is more but that's all off the top of my head...

Uhmn.....oh yeah, right. I do have an owners manual. Will do....thanks folks.
So far, I'm fast forgetting the love of my '08 MCS.
Can't wait to get beyond the break-in for a road trip outside of NYC....

Ha! I totally missed that. Glad you guys posted a thread and some answers. I took mine to 5000 a couple of times (whoops!), but haven't gone over 85. I'll know to keep it in reason for a while now.
A lot of my 1200 miles is going to be highway commuting, though, and there's a lot of constant speed to that. I guess I'll just have to hope for the best. And trust the maintenance and warranty plans I invested in. I figured since the Countryman is a new model that those plans would be worth a lot of peace of mind to me.

I don't have the sites and researchin front of me but the general idea behind engine break in is back pressure on the rings to seat them in.
Example would be to go in 2 or 3rd gear and accelerate from 2000 rpms to 5000 rpms
And back to 2000 rpms not using the brakes. Let the motor slow you down.... as you slow the back pressure will seat the rings.
Do this at least a dozen times. Google engine break in.... until you find this general idea.
