R60 Things you didn't know about your Countryman
Mojito, what you say makes complete sense, but I'm trying to figure why Y8s' keyfob fully opens his sunroof, but in our car the sunroof will only pop up and not open all the way. I want what he has :-)
just tried it, held down for 30 seconds. no go. Tried it again with the windows already down, no go.
People have coded it for the reverse to happen with locking, so I'm sure this could be done as well.

The owner's manual does not seem to mention that the "one touch to close" feature on the power windows is defeated if that door is open. No doubt this is because there is a greater chance of getting a finger pinched while the door is being opened and closed.
Sorry to create an uproar or cause sunroof opening envy. Mine only pops but the windows will continue to roll down as long as I hold the unlock button. I'm glad because it uses a lot of power to put the windows down, the sunroof is a lot of power for that big motor. I wish I could do the same by pressing and holding the lock button - may ask about this at the dealer next time in.
Don't forget the sun shade for the windshield if you don't have one already. Especially vital for the extra UV rays we get up at 5,000+ feet in NM if you want to keep your dash looking nice

so last night after work I went out to my CM with my phone to take a video of my hand on the fob and all the windows and sunroof in the background.
I held the unlock button down while filming....
and I have a nice video of it only popping up.

I guess I was confused between the fob and the interior toggle switch. You can see if it's programmable though I guess.
Sorry about that!
i preface this post by saying my CMS All4 has the manual tranny and i did not read the OM about the automatic tranny ....
i was driving my dad's CMS All4 with auto tranny to do an oil/filter change and rotate the tires ...
sport button ON, shifter to the LEFT in manual mode, cruise ON, motoring on a limited access hwy ... approaching a red light, i pushed the paddle shifter to downshift from 6th to 5th, expecting the cruise to disengage ....
BUT IT DID NOT DISENGAGE, i was now in 5th with cruise ON, downshifted again to 4th, same result
pressed I/O and came to a stop, upon green, i accelerated, shifted to 2nd, hit RES, cruise engaged and accelerating, shifted from 2nd thru to 6th, cruise stayed ON
called the dealer, asked for service, asked them if this is normal, answer "I DON"T KNOW" ...
so ... does your automatic CMS allow you to manually shift with CRUISE ENGAGED without disengaging cruise?

I didn't know that SIRI on the iPhone 4S would work flawlessly over bluetooth and y-cable! No MiniConnect or Nav. Just H/K upgrade and bluetooth package. Pretty awesome find! Read txts, send txts, make calls and do everything SIRI does.
This is how the cruise has worked in every automatic I've driven. I used to notice it in my sister's car growing up (20 years ago), because it would downshift to go up hills then upshift after the crest.
it is different, but i am glad to know it is normal and not a problem with my dad's All4
thanks

May have been mentioned here already. . .
When you have the wipers on either of the two speeds, when you come to a stop light/sign they slow down or stop. Then they go back to normal speed as you accelerate. (First drive in the rain since I've had it, if you couldn't tell)

Good to know. I will test it out this weekend when I finally go for a real drive. Put on about 200 km in the past 2 weeks and my wife does most of the driving.
I didn't realize just how deep the cost cutting effort went on the carpet and floormats. My vacuum spent an extensive amount of time getting close and personal with the CM today and the floor carpets can barely be called that. Forget about complete dog hair removal with that cheap material. The floor mats are no better.
In comparison, the R53 dosen't have the thickest of carpet carpet either, but at least it vacuums fairly easily. The R53's carpet floor mats are in a cool material and at 80k miles look better than the R60's which only have 2k miles on them since I had rubber mats through the winter.
Cost cutting is OK so long as perceived quality is not diminished. This would rate as a fail IMO.
On the plus side I was happy to realize the rubber mat at the bottom of the rail is easy to remove for thourough cleaning. Given theat I have the polar beige color line, that thing was looking a little grungy around the edges but now it looks like new again.

I like the look of the black mats but they DO show everything! Vacuuming only goes so far. I shake off, vacuum and then lint roll them when I detail. I don't have a dog, but an occasional hair falls and those are best picked up with the lint sticky. In a pinch I cover the mat with wide blue masking tape. Everything comes right up. No wear points yet, but the car is only 5 months old...
