The suspense is killing me

My lovely CM arrived at the train station in Montreal on Monday. It just has to take the trip up the highyway to the dealership and get prepared. Then it will be all mine.

Being stuck at home with no car is doing my head in, especially when my new toy is so near, yet so far.

Hopefully Thursday is delivery day. Since ordering on the 24th Jan I have been waiting patiently, now the patience has gone.

Based on your experiences how long has it taken for your cars to be prepped and ready to go?

Once they get to it, it took my two MINIs about half a day each. If this is your first one, leave a couple hours to let your advisor go through all the features with you (synch your phone's directory, figure out how to use the controls, etc.).

Oh you wicked person. I would've had orange, best colour ever. But the other half was horrified at the thought!

A couple of hours!!! Fortunately I didn't get connected I have no interest in either using my iphone, or listening to music, in the car. Maybe then we can get it down to 30 minutes. I wanna drive my car!!!

Lovely to have a date. The waiting is painful. Just imagine cruising the highways in your new CM this summer.

I feel your pain! Mine arrived over this last weekend and I will picking it up tomorrow after some Tint is installed. Today was my Salesman's day off, so I am spending today getting my stuff together(Camera charged) for tomorrow's big day.

Have a fun day Thursday!

Go over the paint with a fine tooth comb before signing on the dotted line.

Listen to Brad about the paint inspection before you sign

I picked up my CM on Monday night. I put it in my garage with many overhead lights when I got home and discovered swirl marks all over the car.

I called my MA and told him I would be in when they opened today.

They got it resolved (not quite perfect) but I didn't get much sleep last night. They did the worst prep work of any new car I have ever purchased.

I wish I had Brad's advice before I went to pick it up yesterday but live and learn...

What time do you pick it up? MINI / BMW is notorious for delivery at 6:30 so there isn't great light. Earlier pick up would be better in my opinion. Ours was also waxed, or so I thought as the finish looked great. I am now under the impression that they used glaze on the finish, which hides imperfections. Imperfections on a black vehicle should be easier to spot than on our Surf Blue. Ours has a spot on the leading edge of the hood that is almost opaque, about the size of a Loonie (our $1 coin here in Canada). It is very hard to see and even if the car wasn't glazed at the time, I probably would have missed it upon my inspection.

Also, during the introduction to your new car, get them to sync your phone or phones and show you how to make a call from the car and receive a call from the car, go over the controls on the stock that allow you to set your door locking / unlocking preference (lights only or lights and beep), your directional signal tap (one signal at a time or three at a time) as they should be quick to do there and will save you a bit of time at home. Still, read the manual as there is stuff in there that is good to know. Most importantly, enjoy the drive home.

Great advice! Thanks for giving the next ones concrete inputs for the receiving inspection.

Why would you have to wait until Friday?

Cause thats when they say it will be ready. Too much time of course, but it only came in last night, patience is a virtue.

I just assumed that you were having special seat belts, tie downs, restraints, etc. installed to keep cargo/passengers/animals firmly in place so they did not becom dangerous missiles in an emergency panic stop situation. Safety is #1.

ARGH!!! The dealer just emailed me, after me leaving him emails and messages this morning. That my car still hasn't made it to the dealership, despite it being in Montreal (20 kms from the dealership) since Friday. He says unless it arrives soon it will not be ready for tomorrow.

I am so unimpressed, living with one car is not easy when you live in a rural location. I will have to hire a car this weekend if this doesn't turn around.

This car better be worth all this aggravation!

And yet, my Pure Orange is just sailing (literally) through the process. C'est la vie, mon petit. If it's any consolation, yes - it will be worth the aggravation. This will all be a distant bad memory in a short while.

Hi Quebecker,
I can certainly commiserate with you! Our CM docked last Wed morning at 2AM and has yet to arrive at the Dallas dealership. The wait has been agonizing! Production began on Feb 16 (Valentine's day order) so we've not had to wait as long as you, but it's been plenty long! Hope you get it soon.

Well the car made it to the dealership yesterday at 4ppm. The salesperson called after me leaving him some messages. He said he would try to have it ready for today. I told him I was totally unimpressed as three months wait is ridiculous.

Guess what I still have no car and I haven't heard a peep from him all day. He knew we were in the city near the dealership today and that it would be a great chance to pick up the car.

So we are still one car less and I have to go on a road trip on SUnday - Tuesday for work and that will leave hubby with kids and no car, though he somehow has to get to work on Tuesday in MOntreal with no car. NO public transit here!

I really do not get why the car could not have been prepped by this afternoon, I cannot beieve it take so long.

Unhappy Quebecker with one car!

Well they won't be getting anything near a 10 from me and they know it.

JUst talked to "him" he offered me a loaner, I only live a 3 hour round trip from the dealership, so I said why didn't you call when you knew I was in the city with that offer? He said that he was extremely busy and only just had lunch. AH well! SO as they are closed tomorrow I had to decline the offer of a loaner as I just cannot get there tonight by closing time. Hubby is at work and no one seems to want to road trip at nighh (odd that???)

SO now we have a time of 11am next Thursday for pick up. "He" knows I am very pissed off and acknowledges f'ups from all angles. Anyway I will spend the next few hours trying to find a car for the next week. Rental agencies are far and few between up here!
