Pictures and Specifications of Roll-On/Roll-Off ships

Greetings,

For information about the various ships that transport our precious cargo, take a look at:
http://www.scheepvaartwest.be/
and select the name of the vessel.

Some can transport over 6,000 cars.

I'm interested in them transporting just one car. And soon, darn it.

Thanks for the info - it will give me something to read while I'm waiting.

I have worked on one of those. We carried Toyotas from Japan to the U.S West coast.

Anyone going onto the car decks had to empty their pockets, so there was no chance that a car would be scratched by an errant tool.

The auto carrier I worked on had three holds with giant watertight doors separating them and 13 decks.

I also worked on one of the original Ro/Ro ships, built for States Lines in 1976. It looked more like a regular ship, instead of a floating shoe box.

We carried M1 tanks and tank support vehicles for the army on that one.
