R60 Dealer responsiveness during order process?
Dealer responsiveness during order process?
How responsive was your MA during the time period between ordering and getting the car? I find that I have to email or call, despite my MA saying that she will let me know when there is an update. I'm wondering if this is typical?
My MA has emailed me each time there has been a status update on my vehicle, i.e. in production, going to port, etc. But it hasn't been anything extraordinary that I could not keep track of either on Ask Mini or OL.
I usually emailed him once per week, and then during week 9 through 11, I emailed him daily pretty much. I'm a pain in the a$$!! lol

Our MA sent email after order with production number, etc. Then he sent one when production was complete. Other than that, I've pestered him for information. He usually responds quickly, but not necessarily with the most complete information.
+1
Relax. It will get here soon enough. Having sold cars I made it a point not to contact my MA untill it was time. Not untill you see it has made it to the port of entry. Karma has a lot to do with this stuff. In fact my car got delivered 3 weeks earlier than I expected. It was finished at 1 and made the boat that left at 3. Your MA wants to deliver the car probably worse than you so they can recieve their commission. The ordering, tracking and finally getting your Mini is a cool experience. There is a website where you can watch the boat go through the Pananma Canal. Kinda like watching paint dry, but just seeing the boat and knowing my car was on it was cool. That info could be found on week 10 2008. Once you take delivery all will be OK Good Luck
My MA, Tony P. has pretty much been a rock star. No complaints here
I think it helps if, when you first meet the person, they are FUN, ENJOY THEIR JOB, and really put an effort forth. This was my second MA at that dealership...the first was a D-U-D.
Mine was very responsive when I was actully buying it. But during the 8 weeks I have been waiting I have had very little from him. I asked for the vin and production numbers last month and he sent them. He told me the car was at the port, though he said it wasn't Bremerhaven!!! I tracked it myself and I know it landed in MD on the 13th March. But other than that I have really had virtually nothing from him.
It would be nice to get a little bit of info, at this point I will just wait until the car arrives.

We have nothing but great things to say about our MA. She has always reached out and updated us via e-mail along the way without ever having to contact her
Then again we knew right from the get go we would have to wait at least 6 to 8 weeks. It appears that we'll have our CM in about 6 weeks as it's due in port today which is 34 days from date of order.
It's kind of like booking a vacation a few months in advance. It's something to look forward to.

Mine was so responsive that to get some questions answered while waiting the last week I had to drive over to the dealership and find him. I got the survey recently but I think I'd rather not fill it out.
My experience was Mini's Ask Mini system was the best source of reliable quick information up until the car got to port. After the car gets to port I believe it falls off the lounge and Ask Mini radar. From that point on one has to get information from their MA or dealership. In my experience if you get upset about something call the dealerships sales manager and let him or her know. This is the person most likely to be able to actually help.
I think the reality is MA's are not kept very well informed as management prefers them to be selling vs tracking cars. I suspect that MA's may have a difficult time getting reliable information just like we do. At the end my MA told me he would probably be the last to know when my car arrived at the dealership. Sort of makes sense when you think about it; the salesperson can't get the car ready for us to pick up, all they can do is slow down the process with questions.
I think MINI has a good system, it might even get us customers a little too involved in the process. This assessment is, of course, easy for the prince of impatience to make after my MINI has arrived.
