Optional Flat Floor

I was just told that the optional flat floor was just added by MINI, and wasn't available when I ordered my CM in February.

My parts guy also said it cannot be retrofitted.

Anyone considering ordering a CM should check with their MA if they want this. I haven't checked to see if it's available on the configurator yet.

The optional Flat Floor is again available in the configurator.
Retrofitted?? Is it actually fastened to the vehicle, I'm thinking it is a free standing part that can be removed/installed as needed.
Anyone know for sure??

I ordered it, waiting to see if it shows up in May, along with some other questionable items.

Here are the quotes from my parts guy:

"Unfortunately the optional second flat load floor is a factory option and currently is not retrofit-table to cars that were not built with that option."

"Actually that build option wasn’t available until about a week or 2 ago and the only people allowed to see that build option was sales managers. So it wasn’t an option tab you missed, just an option tab not anyone allowed to see yet!!"

That's not what I got from my MA when I picked up Buddy yesterday. They're being told they can order them, and he was going to get some in. It might require an additional bracket install.

We ordered the flat load floor on our Mini, with the order placed two weeks ago in early March. The dealer said it had just recently become available. He also said it was not easily retrofittable to a Countryman not equipped with it from the factory. Although we were promised our vehicle was ordered with it, it does not show up as part of our order in the Owner's Lounge.

Interesting, as is everything with ordering a MINI. My printout of the order as placed shows "4UL Second Load Floor". But, it's not on my OL build. I've been putting off comparing line by line - I guess it's time to do it.

Moving right along . . . after a line by line comparison, both the flat floor and the convenience 2 package are missing from the OL list. I called my MA and had him check on it. His story is that the OL is not "official" and my official order is correct. My theory is that both items are recent additions to the configurator and the OL just hasn't been updated. We'll see in 5 to 8 weeks.

That stinks. I want that panel. Hopefully if it can't be retrofitted, something in the aftermarket will be made that does the job.

I'm also interested in that second panel. When I bought my CM, I was told that it might be offered as an option in a few months and then I could order it for my car. Hope its retrofittable. I'll have to check in with my dealer.

@Sealy - The OL is notorious for not being accurate. Don't worry about that. Have your MA give you a printout from the order system so you can be comfortable with everything being in the real computers.

My ZC2 Convenience2 package was also not listed in the OL, but my order sheet has it.

My parts guy says that there has been no announcement on the retrofittable flat load floor yet. In the meantime, he's ordering in a rubber boot mat that looks like it fits in where the cover currently drops down. I'll report back on that (and if it can support any weight) when I get it.

I have the rubber boot mat...

It fits over the flat floor, which exposes the space between the rear seats to prying eyes and possibly things flying through.

It doesn't fit over the tool kit area, so we still need the true flat floor when the "regular" floor is raised to block the boot off.

Well, so much for that brilliant idea. Still not bad to protect the fabric, though.
