R60 What should I expect after ordering?
What should I expect after ordering?
I ordered my CMS (no all4) red, auto, anthracite headliner, sport pkg, anthracite turbo fans, black roof/mirrors and stripes on 3/16. What type of wait times are you getting after order? When do you start to recieve updates or corespondence from MINI? Thanks
Husband's CM-S was ordered on 2/14 and entered production the same week (dealer had available production slots). It was completed on 2/25 and currently is still sitting at the port at Bremerhaven. I've been emailing our MA weekly for updates. No one knows why it is taking so long.
We received initial correspondence from MINI a few days after order. I believe it was invitation to join Owner's Lounge.

It can take a while and the wait can vary for numerous reasons....sequin referenced one above, production slots. As a result it's difficult to tell anyone exactly how long the wait will be, particularly as sometimes the car just seems to sit at one stage in the process for an extended period of time for reasons unknown. Again, sequin provides a good example of that as her husband's car is still sitting in Bremerhaven waiting to be loaded on a boat almost a month after being built.
As you can see from my signature, mine was ordered on 3/3, In Production 3/6/11, Born 3/14/11 and I'm told now is finally en route to Bremerhaven. I'm hopeful it will be on the W&W ship that leaves Wednesday for, among other places, NYC...and I certainly hope it doesn't take a month like it has for sequin.
This thread in 1st Gear should help you with your tracking: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-updated.html
Good luck...be patient!!

Check out [this] thread for some info on the ordering/tracking process. Some of it won't apply to us CM people, but is mostly accurate.
MINI will send out some emails through the process, but they're mostly to pitch financing or accessories...nothing terribly useful..
My R56 was ordered on 3/15/08, went into production on 3/24, and was sitting in my dealers lot by 4/16. However, my wife's CM was ordered on 2/26 and not scheduled for preoduction until 4/14. I don;t expect to see it until the end of May. Oh well. just a chance to save up more of a down payment.
If you have not doen so, take this time to read all the threads in all the sections and start planning the mods you want to do.
By the way, your build sounds almost exactly like my wife's CM. She got a Red S, black roof, Cold Weather, Premium, Nav + Connected, Comfort Access2 pkg, leaherette seats an the tunnel spokes with all seasons, xenons with adaptive HL, and some more stuff I forget off hand. Her R60 is nicer than my JCW R56.

Losing mine. My baby has been sitting at Bremerhaven since 3/6.

Go figure? We were prepared mentally to wait at least 8-10 weeks and it looks like we'll have ours in 6 weeks or less.
We checked the owner's lounge once early on to see what it was all about. But we never called anyone. Our MA keeps us posted via e-mail. Which is nice.

Now that I look back at my stream of emails from our MA, on March 12 it was still at status 190 (Awaiting Transport). I called Robo-MINI on March 14 and it said it was being transported and then on March 15 it said "at the port" (finally!). Production completed on 2/25 and why it took EIGHTEEN DAYS to get to port, we have no idea. Although it seems that some do take a long time: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...50-post92.html
Sidebar: We live a couple of hours from our Dallas dealership. We'll be in the DFW area later this week, as we're flying out/in of DFW airport for a weekend trip. Way back at the end of February, husband & I were discussing how we could arrange our travels so that we'd be able to pick up his vehicle during the time we'd be in the metroplex anyway for our flights. Silly us!! The darn thing is not even on the water yet!!

Mine would be coming to port hueneme.

Oh my how envy brings out the worst in me!!
Aw geeez, I'm just telling it like it is. How about next time I visit my relatives in Mahwah we have a drink together at the Mason Jar on 202 and forget about it. What do you say?
I'd never say no to drinks, especially with a CM owner!!! It will give us a chance to patch things up after my rude comment...I'm buying the first round!!
I must have been cranky as a result of my CM delivery impatience when I made my last post...not to mention the dislocated shoulder. It's the first time I've fallen skiing in many, many years and my first real injury, which is shocking given the stupidity of my youth!!

You can see my timeline in my signature. My car is on a truck to the dealer, ETA tomorrow. I'm hoping they can turn it around quickly so I can pick up my car on Saturday, but I'll probably get it sometime early next week. Hmm...off to check my calendar to see when I can take a couple of hours off of work.
Where did everyone find out what boat they got on (and when), short of plugging their VIN into WWL's website. Was it from 1866-ASK-MINI, your MA, or do they put it on the OL?
As you can guess my car arrived in Bremerhaven today (according to ASK-MINI).

I was able to deduce which boat my MINI was on based on WW's shipping schedule and when I knew my car was at port and my MA confirmed the boat once it left Bremerhaven.
Once you know what ship you're on, unless you're on a K-Line ship, it's pretty easy to track.

. Seriously, I've been nursing a torn rotator cuff myself so I feel your pain. We'll be in your area later on in the spring. Look forward to knocking back a few with you
All the best. --Hobie

My frustrations have finally been lifted. Seems that there was some lag between the time my car was loaded on a ship and either Mini or W&W updated their info.
My new toy was loaded on the Fidelio, which left Bremerhaven on 3/24 and is due to land in NYC on 4/6.
