My R60 got hitched...

So now I can make my R60 MINIDOMORE...

The hitch is certified up to 3,000 pounds (even though it pulled more in the certification process before beginning to fail)

Great work by Brent and his crew.
I believe it should be available to the public within the next few weeks...

My 2 cents - spent wisely...

Looks good, what are you going to pull?

By the way, a CM could be a Clubman too.

Just signed up on their website go get more info as soon as it is here! Nice Does the plate always stay in that lower position or only when you are towing? (sorry if that seems like a stupid question)

How do you get the pin/bolt in there for the attachments? Is that a 2" receiver or 1-1/4?

Sorry, I didn't notice. I just found the thread in the new posts and am interested in hitches.

Still abbreviations are a pet peeve of mine, as you can see in my signature.

Plate location info:
The plate is only in the lower position to access the hitch. The access hole is otherwise completely concealed with the plate in the upper/normal position.
It takes all of 15 seconds to accomplish this action. Very simple.
I see no need for any type of specialty plate holder/contraption.
There are many, MANY threads in this NAM (as in North American Motoring) forum discussing this.

My 2 cents- If the effort of moving 2 screws is too much for you; you probably arent going to use a hitch to begin with...

Receiver is 1 1/4" and the best option we decided upon for pin access was to cut a hole in the unneccessarily huge piece of plastic leading forward from the boot fender. The MINIDOMORE product will include complete instructions on where to cut this. It is slightly off-center so one doesnt have to contort ones wrist to insert/remove the pin.

Comprehensive photos to come in the first week of April...

I am happy to answer any questions, and offer any help or advice I can.
There are no stupid questions.
Sometimes I wonder about people though

I will post more photos in a couple weeks, but I am setup to insert a hitch-mounted 4 bicycle carrier and tow an inflatable dinghy behind that.

Today, I towed my inclosed 4'x8' cargo trailer FULL (probably a bit too full) of sailboat gear just to see how it pulled. It was raining and winds gusted to 25mph and it was manageable.

Obviously a MINI has its limitations, however, I feel all of my needs will be met with the MINIDOMORE system.

Any idea if a 1 1/4 to 2" adapter will fit without hitting bodywork? I would like to use my existing 2" receiver bike rack.

I'm interested in a 2" receiver as well. I have a 4-bike rack that I'd like to use. It's much more stable with a 2" receiver.

pappatho asked: "Any idea if a 1 1/4 to 2" adapter will fit without hitting bodywork? I would like to use my existing 2" receiver bike rack."

(the "quote" button is not cooperating today)

A "standard" 1 1/4" to 2" adapter will not fit.
There isn't enough depth from the pin hole location to clear the bumper.
You need all of 4" from the pin hole until whatever you insert clears the bumper.
I have scoured the Internet and nobody manufactures a "stock" option that will fit.
You will need a custom adapter manufactured

There are also limitations on using accessories with a bend in the shaft or a rise or drop. Brent @ MINIDOMORE is aware of these issues and is working to help resolve them for production
NOTE: the issue is NOT with the hitch design. It's with the additional depth associated with the bumper due to the MINI design... Personally, I'd rather have the license plate cover the hitch when not in use to conceal it and only have to move two screws to use the hitch than deal with installing the other style hitch systems everytime... Besides: EVERYTHING else for a MINI is custom; isn't it time you upgrade you bike carrier anyway? I did.
I had to abandon "Sonic" at the airport to fly out of town, but will post comprehensive pics of options I am using and alterations I have made when I return first week in April.

What about this adapter...will this work?

There's a 6" and a 10" length.

No. The R60 MINIDOMORE hitch "issue" is due to the depth the 5mph metal bumper and plastic bodywork create.
That said, if you were to redesign the receiver to extend outward more, there would be no way to access the pinhole (it would be directly inside the 5mph metal bumper).
The distance needed for proper clearance is 4" from pin hole to bodywork.
These extensions list measurements from pinhole to pinhole, however from pinhole on the 1 1/4" shaft to where the 2" receiver begins is < 4" thus not allowing you to insert a pin to hold it in place.

I like how ur thinking though!
