The media is reporting today that many autos manufactured around the world utilize Japanese parts. With the devastation in the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan, parts are beginning to run in short supply. I've heard the Countryman's automatic transmission is made in Japan. Maybe other parts are Japanese also? Will this worldwide problem affect delivery of the Countryman?

Of course, but probably much less so than most other auto manufacturers. Other than the AT and probably some of the electrical components in the Nav. I can't see much being made in Japan.

No effect on world wide delivery of the CM...it just means everybody gets manual transmission instead.

I saw a recent post in another thread that the automatics are in short supply and causing delays due to the tsunami in Japan. Has anyone else found that to be the case?

I was told today at Vista Mini no new automatic CM until September.
No nav or MINI connect either.

I got my CM last month, auto, build says tranny was made in Belgium, so apparently they are now using Aisin's from Belgium, so the transmission shouldn't be a problem.
