Any more news on the cradle for the I phone 4..?
I heard the 3GS is available for order...I have started to use Mini Connect more even though the I still enjoy the bluetooth but would like to have it in the armrest cradle rather than have it lay awkward on the rail.

 

I'm going to hold off for awhile and see what Kuda and Pro Clip offer. I hate having my phone in the arm rest, I would always wind up leaving it there, and would never see texts if they don't add that feature.

But what many were saying is the iPhone 4 cradles are available, only problem is there are three.

 

Someone had posted the part number last week, and I sent an email to my MA.

He wrote back telling me he talked to the parts department and was told it won't be available until September!

 

Thats what I heard as well...February..March...then late summer ..fall I wonder why 3 different models for the 4 ?
Perhaps the 3 & 3GS..and the 4 ..and you know by the time that's out..I phone 5 will be making it's way into the stores.

My MA did not even know such a cradle existed. I would not take any dealer's word on this. I think it depends on how good their parts dept is at staying current.

 

I thought they haven't added that feature yet though. Either way (they will if they haven't) thats a hell of a lot to pay, yikes. Definitely waiting to see what Kuda comes out with, even there over priced mounts only run @ $100. I also still prefer my phone being out or I will forget it in the car like 90% of the time, hell even out I will forget it most of the time.

 

Well for all those interested..I picked up what was supposedly the "right" I Phone 4 cradle...and what some of you thought had happened and got shipped the basic cradle. Stated Basic right on the label. snapped right in to the armrest...looked great and charged..but that was about it. Mini Connected did not even recognize the I phone as connected. So $155. was a bit more I was willing to spend for a nice fitting phone charger. Parts took it right back and said they would call Mini. They showed me when they entered my Vin. # that is what came up for a match.. So....the saga continues. Hope to hear from parts manager within a few days.

 

I'm guessing we won't see the "real" cradle untile this summer. Apple WWDC was just announced for June 6 and that is probably the day we will see the Iphone 5 announced. Wouldn't make sense for them to come out with an Iphone 4 cradle when the Iphone 5 is just around the corner. Still, Mini should do a better job of communicating this stuff.

 

There are around 30 million reasons to release an iPhone4 cradle, for the same reason they have a 3GS cradle.

Also the word is that no new hardware is coming out at WWDC, although a new phone might be released around then. Personally I'm thinking probably around September.

 

Give the parts manager this:

This cradle has been reported to pass all media through to Connected.

The BMW X3(prob all models) shares this part # too.
Please let us know the outcome.

I'm hoping it's available by the time my CM-S arrives in May.

 

AI is saying might be after September 24th (start of fiscal 2012) but before the holiday season, so probably early October.

 

Miniaturize....he has that # along with the one that came in for me..which ended in 389 and another ending in 390. Seems that at the moment only the 389 is available..and it really is a BMW number..not a Mini #. In the Mini accessories those numbers don't even come close. But still the cradle fit..looked great just did not have what everyone's looking for..Music & Video/Mini Connected apps. basically everything the supplied Y cable gives us only more convenient, not needing to deal with that short cable and no where to put the phone.

I placed an order for the part ending in 392 about three weeks ago and just called to check on it. They are telling me another week or two on my order.

 

The 24 iphone 4 docks with media (part ending 392) are still in germany -- at least two more weeks before hitting the US. The basic ones (charge only) are available.

 

OK ..thanks for the update jmdor. I ordered one off the Mini Accessories site...all together different #'s but listed for media and with those who have installed options 6NF & 6NE. Have yet to get a confirming email..figured I give that a shot as well...if it's not the right one, stated I can return it back to my dealership for credit. Hopefully someday soon we'll be enjoying one.

Ok.... Just picked up the I phone 4 cradle that I ordered off the Mini Accessories site from the dealership. Unlike the three BMW #'s that have been listed here. This Mini part # is 84-10-9-164-123 ... When ordered from the site stated we needed options 6NF & 6NE. Box even states music after the number. So I was thinking this was equal to the BMW # ending 391. I recently ordered and then returned the basic #389. Well this was no better than the first one I returned. It charges but would not even play the Bluetooth or I should say it did and the screen showed the songs.. No artwork but also nooooo sound, no music at all. Pop it out of the cradle and all was fine. Actually this cradle did not look as sturdy and the phone seemed to be a bit tight. Not as nice of a fit with the 389. So that's it for me....I'll return this one and just have to wait for the right one...whenever and which ever one that is. Looking forward to any others that thought they might of stumbled onto the correct one!
