R60 Hill Assist
Hill Assist
Anyone having problems with your hill assist engaging? I've been on several hills where it has engaged in the pass, but no longer does. I've tried everything, held the brake lightly and pushed very firm nothing works. The book says basically nothing, other than it's just suppose to work. Looks like a visit to the dealer is in order.

Is it not working on the same hills it worked on in the past? I see in the manual that it's dependent on the load, and gradient. It will only hold for approx 2 seconds after the brake is released.
I think it also depends on you being 'clutch in, in gear' while waiting. If you leave in neutral before shifting in and going when the light changes, it does not engage as much.
In the past (R56), if the hill assist was not working, the car would light the TPMS light. Also if the TPMS thought you had tires that were low pressure and had set the TPMS indicator on for that reason, the hill assist is intentionally disabled.

Can't disengage traction control (DSC) either
...if by chance you are doing that--at least that's true for my 2010 MCS stick per the manual and my actual experience both.

I always put my car in neutral and foot off the clutch at a light or stopped in traffic. Prevents your clutch pressure plate & throw out bearing from wearing out prematurely. Once I get my CM 6spd I will have to check this hill hold thing out since my '03 doesn't have that feature.
My wife has the CM automatic and I thought the hill holder was also a feature on that too.
neutral works fine
When I come to a stop I usually always put it in Neuatral and keep my foot on the brake. (The lights around here are ^$%#& way too long)
When light turns green I push in the clutch, Put into first, Take foot off of the brake and the hill holder works every time.
your's should work the same way. If it does not you need a trip to the dealer.

I know in my MCS HillAssist is engaged just as described by many others here. I m always in neutral at a stop sign/light. I put in clutch and gear let off the break and the car stays put. i think there is a way ( some pedal combo ) to disengage the HillAssist, can't remember the exact sequence. Maybe you are disengaging this without realizing it. Or the CM works differently then the MCS.

I played with this
with clutch in hill assist operates
clutch out in neutral its dis-engaged - but it quickly re-engages if you plonk in gear and tap or release and hold brake for a second.
Amazes me how fast it acts - well cool - handbrake now just relegated for use in hand brake J turns
Now I admit the first time I did some steep hill starts I had to recalibrate my feet - I am used to being able to modulate the handbrake with clutch but now it just seems so intuitive I don't even think about it
