I hate the way the speed_o looks on the mini. So was thinking of tinting it to a darker color. The speed shows on the tech so it should be fine.

Any issue with driving it at night? Can you get the interior lights dim enough?

I saw this cool looking blacked out speedo insert on the cooper S forums. Looks like it would fit the CM speedo, even though the CM has 2 new *****. Not sure where to buy it from or how hard it is to insert. No pun intended..."cram it in the boot".

Aaaah, sorry I dont have a solution for that. It looks very clean and not busy though but definitely bright.

 

I'm with you, the dash lights are pretty bright! I just dim them all the way, and it works great for me. All I lose is the "ambience lighting", since it dims with the dash lights. It seems a lot easier than tinting the dash bits.

I told him to tint it, but it looks like he painted it. (maybe too hard to tint) Looks like he used the same paint for my rear lights. I will take a picture during the day without the Flash

 

wtf, does your interior smell like fresh paint. I'm not sure how legal that is. Probably won't pass inspection even though the speed shows on the tach. Maybe a MINI dealer would pass it since the techs know you can see your speed in the tach, but a Joe Blow garage may not know that..I'm quite sure that you need a speedo.
