So the MINI web site gives you the option for bonnet stripes on the Countryman. Does anyone know if this is a factory or dealer installed option? One reason that I am curious is that the BMW RealOEM web site appears to offer stripes for the hatch door along with the bonnet stripes.

If I can, I would like to get those rear stripes as well. I wonder why they weren't offered on the web site and if you can have them put on before I've taken delivery of the car.

I was told they ship the stripes with the car but you then the dealer installs them (for additional cost not shown).

So they ship the bonnet stripes to the dealer also? I figured for $100 in the configurator they were going to be put on at the factory....is that not correct on bonnet stripes?Originally Posted by jake703

Here are the details:
Sport Stripes Come in a Pack that includes both Hood and Rear Hatch for $127.65 plus installation.
Bonnet Stripes cost $125 plus installation
Rear Hatch Stripes cost $80 plus installation
They only have White and Black in stock.
Hope this helps.

The ones listed as an option on the MINI website should only be $100 and are probably shipped with the car and installed at the Delivery Center. If you get into the accessories section it tells you these are dealer installed and that there will be a cost in addition to the parts cost. The Sports Stripes are an accessory so they would be installed by the dealer for an additional fee. You can also choose to buy these through the parts department and give it a go yourself.

Most of the time the vinyl isn't actually from Mini, a local vinyl guy has the pattern and cuts it out and installs it at the dealership.

Does anyone have the alternate bonnet set - runs up the middle on over the bulge - - - kind of looks like a fork? How's it look in person? I'm Scotch-Irish and it peeves me no end to pay for the stripes once in the Sport Package and again for the ones I want.
And, if you keep going, a third time to get them up my boot.

Bonnet stripes on the bonnet, boot stripes on the boot. OK? Originally Posted by inimini2007

OK - so I ordered the boot stripes from the dealer and was told it would be $80 plus $100 installation. Then, just for the heck of it, I asked how do they handle the 'Cooper S' logo on the rear passenger side? I was surprised when the MA told me that they just cut the stripe so there is a break around the logo. Really? Is this the norm? I would have thought they remove the logo piece, put on the stripe and adhere the logo back on. Now I'm wondering if they have to break the logo off and make me pay for a new one to put back on...

The Cooper S logo is a "sticker". It would probably cause problems if it went back on top of the vinyl. It is held on with very tough foam double stick tape. I took mine off, I figure if I have to explain that its an S with the two tailpipes sticking out, you wouldn't appreciate my car anyway!

When the boot stripes became available, my dealer ordered them for me. I saw them in the packaging. The right side boot stripe already comes in 2 pieces to go around the CooperS logo...they didn't cut it during installation.Originally Posted by karlc42
