R60 Option for Interior Ceiling Color?
Option for Interior Ceiling Color?
Hi,
Just picked up my Countryman last week. I have a quick question I was hoping you guys could answer. The car is all black with all black interior but the ceiling is tan. I didn't order anything tan. Is this an option or does this come standard? Also the bars that run up to the ceiling are also tan. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yep, the Anthracite headliner is what you missed. We were advised to order the Anthracite headliner to better complement the interior bits we selected.
EDIT: Since everything about the Countryman is so new and I ordered back in October, I took a chance and directly called Vinnie Kung who is the Product Manager at MINI USA. It was Vinnie who advised me about the Anthracite headliner, not my dealer.

Almost made the same mistake.......ordered the car and noticed the pillar was tan. I called back in the morning and they were able to make the change. You would think the MA would have mentioned something about the headliner, the configurator should show the headliner and back seats.
I didn't have the luxury of using the configurator since I ordered before it went live.
The only other thing I would change about my car is I regret not getting xenon lights. I had xenon in my last car and the downgrade to halogen's is not very nice.

Or . . . you can always head on over to the parts department and order all the bits to change it over - shouldn't be more than a grand. If you have an S, that would also give you the opportunity to order the dark silver circles for the speedo and vents. Never understand why the less spiffy silver paint units come in the upgraded model.
I ordered the all black interior as well, but the sales guy pointed out that I might want to select the anthracite headliner. He had an example of each to show me, which made it quite clear that I needed to upgrade. Only beef with this is why are different colors different prices?

I am so appreciating our MA. We have now ordered 3 MINIs through him and he knows what we will like and be concerned about. I just ordered my new '11 MCS and he called and went over every detail and remembered stuff about my '06 to reference questions (or he still had the file and looked it up).
I did the Anthracite headliner on my '06 and remembered to give my husband a heads up(so to speak) regarding ordering it on his CM. Our MA had already mentioned it to him, so he was on it!

Since I'm just about to place an order I'm going to see if I can get some kind of break on them...
.Really, it's not a big deal and it does lighten up the interior and make it feel a bit roomier. Most people never notice either way.
But, you may still be able to add the anthracite, call your MA, can't hurt to check.

Scheduled for production does NOT necessarily mean you can't make changes. Call your MA immediately to see if it is too late! 50/50 chance. You can't make changes until it actually goes INTO production.
Glad My MA Recommended Anthracite Headliner
My Countryman has an all black interior with black gravity leather & pure red inserts. That would have been so sad if my MA had not known to make sure that I ordered the right stuff for my interior as well as exterior.
I'm sorry that your MA did not square you away when you ordered.

You might want to call 1-866-askmini, they will give you much more up to date information on what is going on with your car than you get in the Lounge. Have your production #, from your order, or your VIN #, available in the Lounge, ready to enter into the automated system.
When I ordered my MCS, I didn't see the option on the online configurator either and ended up with tan. My MA never mentioned ANYTHING. BoCRon is right, it DOES make it seem a little brighter and roomier. My interior is standard meaning lots of black (ish) but it is really not so bad.
Sealy, I called the dealer to inquire about installing anthracite and they quoted me just of $2k.
