2011 mini countryman

More pics at the Geneva motor show in March & on sale in 2011. This is the beachcomber concept in the dec 28th issue of AutoWeek, which states the 175hp-tubocharged 1.6L will have four wheel drive underpinnings.

It may take some time for this one to grow on me. It looks like the Isuzu Vehicross from the front imo.

I'm not sure it's ever going to grow on me.

MINI set this up just like a Moke but they didn't name it so. The grill as well as many other points give it away. I guess the Moke name just doesn't sit well with the new crowd. Also, Motoringfile.com says this is the Countryman except for the obvious changes for the Beachcomber guise.

I still like it - you have to keep in mind that it's a concept, so it will be more "mainstream" when it actually comes about...

hmm... naaaaa..

and my MA actually thought I'd want this when I said I had a kid...

It's actually cute in its own way, it looks like you pumped up a mini with air from the inside and it just got FAT.

These images of the Beachcomber and the illustration of the link below are the best bet of what the Countryman will look like. I think it will be a perfect size for what it is. Other than this vehicle, I would love to see MINIs close to the size of Minis but I know that will never happen due to current and future safety standards. As y'all know, due to the European pedestrian safety standards, the '07 and up MINIs got way bigger.

I just don't want it to end up looking like an angry Lexus.

ha, i dont like how it looks with doors and stuff... the beachcomber is where its at. Then again it'd need optional doors and roof cover for when it rains.

I really like the beachcomber concept, only 1.6L 4 cyl and 4X4 dont really go together. It will have zero highway pickup and no ***** what so ever on or off the pavement. 175hp at the crank is going to be horrendous in sand. Id much rather (for probably less money) pick up a used FJ Cruiser which wont break close to as often as a MINI and will be far more capable on and off road.

I'd like to see a larger motor come out witha bigger turbo. Hell, even a JCW motor and K03 Turbo could be a lot better. were talking 20-30% power there.
