Just Got a MINI!

Hello everyone. My wife and I just bought a dark silver 06 MCS (automatic for the wife) two days ago and I must admit these cars are fun. I was pretty skeptical about these cars at first (size, power, etc...), but I've converted. These cars handle almost as well as my NSX for a fraction of the price!

Now that I am an official mini owner, I'm trying to do my due diligence to find out as much as I can about these cars. Here are a couple of my questions. What manufacturers are reputable for mini mods? Secondly, how do the automatics stack up against the 6-speed, performance wise? Any input would be much appreciated since I am a complete noob to minis.

Hi and welcome to NAM. There's plenty of modding info on the forum, just have a look thru.

Welcome. The NAM sponsors are good sources for mods. I think I see a 2 MINI family in your future..... an auto for the wife and a 6 speed for you..

Welcome to NAM. MODing can be addictive so be careful, once you start you can't stop.

I was just driving home in my wife's car and was thinking about getting a 6 speed for myself...a 2 MINI future may be inevitable.

Any input on the automatic vs. 6 speed, performance wise?

Seems like a lot of members have Alta products and m7. Any recommendations on which is better?

Thanks.

Welcome! Great choice! I picked up my new automatic Cooper S a couple of days ago too. So your wife is letting you drive it? I bet that won't last long - it's so much fun that she won't want to share. You do indeed need a second MINI.

Happy Twisties to You!

Welcome to NAM. Well I have a MCS auto and love it. Being able to shift with the paddles is great. A two MINI family is always an option.
Happy motoring.
