It was a tough decision...
One of the tougher decisions I've had to make in a while, but I decided to get an '06 Cooper S instead of taking a chance with the '07. I read so many different opinions and talked to as many people as I could about the '06 vs '07 debate. This car will ultimately go to my daughter next year (if I can give it up!) so I decided to not take a chance with the '07 growing pains. We went to the dealership with the thought to order an '06 (on the last day available) or put a deposit down on an '07. We had not thought about actually finalizing the deal that day! But a couple of hours later we were the proud owners of a pepper white well loaded S model (and we had not even contemplated an S!!). All it took was a short test ride to really get hooked (not that I have to tell anybody here that).
Now I have to stop myself from buying stuff for it!

Good call. I went through the same angst, and opted for a know / tried and true over the unknown. Seemed the only logical thing.
And yes -- those damn test drives....

Good luck trying not to buy stuff for it. I have only had my MCS 8 months I have bought something(s) for it every month. Last month: a smaller brother (1980 Mini, see sig)
You won't regret it. You will but things for it. I went thru the same process except that I traded my 05 MCS. I wanted one of the last supercharged JCW's which pretty much guarantees that I will not regret it regardless of what happens in 07 or 08.
