Hi Everyone after reading all the good things about the Mini ,you guys convinced me that it's the car to get..... I am shopping for a new car and the 2 that I have left on my list are the Mini S conv't and the VW Eos... what really sold me was the 3 years maintenance free program the Mini has....Now that I decided , I can't wait to put myself into one... I live in the L.A. area and really need some welcomed advice on where and who to see to get the best deal on a MINI S conv't... or should I save a bit of $$$ and go without the "S" model ....?? your input is very welcomed...Kal

 

IMHO, always go with the MCS.

 

I'm biased toward the MCS...I like the little extra boost. But the MC is great as well. When I looked at my purchase, how much am I willing to spend (or how much can I spend), and how much "fast" do I really need. When it comes to style, you won't loose in any model of the MINI.

The more I save on my initial purchase, is more $$$ I can put toward some "mods". I'm thinking that's what I should have done, if I can do it over again.

Yes, I second Long Beach MINI...it's where I got my MCS at MSRP. Jennifer, Bobby, Matt, any one of these MA's will hook you up.

 

There are two area dealers that only sell at MSRP, South Bay MINI and Long Beach MINI. I purchased my MINI at South Bay, and would recommend talking with Jennifer or Amanda there.

^ "modifying"/adding 50hp to an MC would seem like significant amount of $cash$. Here's what I suggest, if you want the boost of an MCS, buy the S model.

I would ask your question in the Exterior and Interior mods forum to get an accurate answer to your question. Or search the forums, I believe this topic has been discussed before in more detail with different NAM members.

The S is the way to go if you like the intoxicating sound of a supercharger. Drive them both to compare, but get the S....

I bought from Irvine Mini, but would not give them the highest score on the whole buying experience...

 

I didn't find that the "S" was that much faster. Plus I've always liked driving naturally aspired cars. There is just something more pure about it. Honestly though, don't base it on price. The difference is negligible. You could always use that extra couple grand for some excellent mods.

Also, Assael in Monrovia is a great dealership. Southbay is nice as well.

 

We have a MCc...love it!

However....I just got a MCS JCW! After joining SCMM and going on our first run, I knew I wanted more power.

Don't get me wrong...the MCc is still zippy and still a lot of fun. But with the "S" you will have more power to play with...and MINIs are meant to be played with. Unfortunately for all MCs...there is only so much modding you can do. You can get a CAI, exhaust and get a chip...as well as getting new wheels and tires. These mods will still not give you the same hp as the MCS. With a MCSc, you can mod out and easily get 20+hp (depending on whether you get an automatic or manual gear train). The great thing about an MCS is you can do a lot of mods to it...the bad thing about an MCS is you can do way too much modding - it becomes a slippery slope.

Since you're getting a Cabrio...you have plenty of time to test drive a MCc and MCSc because BMW will continue to produce Supercharged Cabrios until 2008.

South Bay is a great MINI dealership...and it's close to Fireball Tim Racing, you can always stop by and get your MINI modded. If you were further south in OC, I would recommend Crevier. Check out the local dealership websites...and remember, don't take dealer markup...stick with MSRP, you will get it.

Are you looking for a new 2006 MCc or MCSc? If so, you'd better do it ASAP as allotments for new 2006's are just about all used up.

I did however have problems with Long Beach they were somewhat rude. And therefore i did not buy the car from them
