Just now taking time to say HI!

I've been using NAM to research a variety of questions since the purchase of my 2002 MCS DS/W Checkered around the panoramic roof the end of June 2006. I've gone a bit insane with the things to add to my fun toy. When purchased it already had about 62,500 miles, but had obviously been well cared for. I got it from a local multi-brand car dealership with a section for import "pre-owned". It came with the checkers around the sunroof and black viper stripes. Lapis blue/gravity leather interior, 15" white 7 hole wheels with all season tires, Premium Package, auto climate control, basic CD stereo (sounds great to me), and blue carpet.
Since then I've added - whew - Chrome bonnet scoop, chrome upper grille, chrome line interior (OEM parts I got from a seller here on NAM - thank you!), 17" chrome Kazera KZ-V wheels with Dunlop SP Sport 9000, JCW checkered floormats, white pinstriping to the edges of the black wide stripes, Hella driving lights on a chrome mounting bar (eBay), I added checkers to the Hella covers, checkered side mirror covers (I wish they made rear view cover for my 2002!), checkered Rogue Mini eyes, silver side marker bulbs, Silverstar high & low beam light bulbs, clear tail light units, chrome look 3rd light cover that is pierced to show COOPER S, made custom lisence plate frames, glove box organizer, rubber boot mat set, type S checkered floormats to use in the boot, and several MINI hats, and a "zipper" indoor car cover.
~~~I've purchased (and used) a Bentley SERVICE MANUAL!~~~
I WON a Magnaflow performance exhaust (filled out their website survey and they picked my mane by random drawing - yeah!) that was delivered yesterday and is being installed Tuesday along with a Moss power steering fan shroud cover - I figure they have a lift, I don't, the exhaust was free, I'll pay a local car repair place we've used to do it! I'm not handy either! Of course, I will be taking printed instructions and letting them know that I know this isn't a big job.
I also already have the following to install: Moss angel eyes parking/signal lamp with stealth silver turn bulbs, OEM armrest, front mudflaps, window up curcuit, blue brake caliper paint and wheel mates, checkered side graphics, and a bit of touch up paint for the little dings the car came with.
Now if I could just have a bit of SUN! The weather in Wisconsin has been gray and gloomy and wet. I hope to have a bit of a break to do a few of the already purchased pieces before I put the MINI to bed for the winter and go back to driving my all wheel drive Astro van.
Perhaps with all of this, plus working to pay for it, you can see why I haven't taken time to introduce myself before now. You'll probably hear fron me once in awhile, but, much more likely I'm searching the threads getting more ideas and trying to figure out how on earth these things go on the car!
welcome! great looking car... you've done some nice mods.
did you do the chrome bonnet scoop yourself? if so, is it hard to install?
i'm thinking I might do that some day. course, I have to get my car first!
That is a very nice win! I warn you, the Magnagflow is LOUD (at least the MC version), but it develops more depth and burble after you have a few thousand miles on it. I haven't heard it on the "S" yet.
Nice MINI!
Hi, the chrome scoop is an OEM replacement. I purchased it from Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville, IL. While it wasn't inexpensive it was one of the first things I wanted to change. It is a direct replacement and not difficult to do. Good luck!
There are more pictures of Exira K in my Gallery. Thanks!
I understand the Magnaflow exhaust is one of the loudest. I drove a used MCS at a dealer lot in Pittsburgh with a Borla Sport exhaust. I couldn't open it up on the highway because I didn't have the time for the 15 minutes just to get to the road. I liked the way it sounded in gears 1 thru 4, all loud and burbbly. It also seemed to have more power than my MCS with its stock exhaust. Then I took a ride in another MCS at a Mini dealership with a Milltek. It was nice, but seemed a bit tame to my ear - the driver was anything but tame, whew! I'd been looking at a bunch of different options and was still undeceided when I got notification of my prize. Well, that made my choice very easy. By the way, I was kind of leaning to the Borla. I guess the Magnaflow is supposed to be similar ~ LOUD. Fun! ~ PS Nice car you have there, ProfessorDave!
Hi Tancho!
Wish I had and exhaust just arrive at my doorstep. Enjoy it if you like the borla I think you'll be able to enjoy the Magnaflow equally as loud, the Borla has more note while the magnaflow has more get out of my way grunt and least to my ears, I like the way both sound though.
Welcome to NAM! HAve fun with the modding.
