Damaged Bonnet

The service dept was installing bonnet stripes from cooper flags. They used the wrong solvent and 1. damaged the bonnet removing paint 2 the stripes were damaged two. Now after I reordered the stripes they are offering to "paint"the stripes on the bonnet for free since they have to repaint the bonnet. I am undecided. They say the color will be a better match...any thoughts
thanks

I have a British Green silver top

If you really want stripes I think that painting them on will be really good, but if you might get bored and want to remove them later, then use the vinyl.

If they are going to paint them, you can really do something totally unique.

paint will look sharp... Rock chips on vinyl can be delt with, with paint it is the real deal though...

If you are a "stripe guy" painted will look way better....

Good Luck!

paint it only if your planning to NOT do stripes over the roof, down the trunk and rear bumper.

2 cents

keep in mind that if two years from now you decide to remove the stripes your paint will be faded and you will be forced to replace them anyaway. I would paint them in, will look much better

Take them up on the offer to paint the bonnet stripes! That is always the superior option. Sorry about their boo-boos, though...what a drag.

I think you can see the trend, just to throw more wood on the fire...

I agree if you want stripes, painted is the way to go! It will give it the really custom look when up close to the car.

If I had the option with my factory order for painted on or as an overlay it would be a no brainer. Painted! I'd ask if they could pinstripe them for you too. If not you could then take it to a custom shop and get the painted on stripes pinstriped. That would be sharp!

Personal opinion is you made a good choice.

I had wanted the stripes but, when ordering the MINI, found out they were decals and decided against it (even though they would have been no charge.) Just something about a decals that seems temporary.
