Kaja, Great looking MINI!

MINIWUV... I agree, a very versatile car!

Those who haven't gotten theirs yet.... poor Giants9595 from wk37 still hasn't received his either... the California group seems to be stuck on pause.

picked it up yesterday.

dealer was great, very professional and helpfull! i dealt with Larry Larsen at Rassmusen Mini in Portland, Oregon. I will try to post better photos later but GP owner and i are in the same rainy city.... I love it here though i have got to say! I have the driving lights on the fron which you cannot see in the photo. Like most people i received floor mats and two key chains for my two mini keys... and the detail job they did was just perfect!

ahhh whitecardude, i am sorry you could not wait! or what ever happened. I must say that i am glad that i waited.

Today I drove a bit more and this mini is verry fun. So much more fun than my VW, and the feel is still there, the feeling that you are in a sentiant creature. I realize that it is so human to cast meaning on metal and plastic but i shall follow the genre due to its applicability with such a unique specimen. A note on names, i think i will wait to name my mini, as learning the bits about this car and its peppy yet refined sprung self is a study in contrast and vigor....

Rachaelstarr:

, thanks for the well wishes i hope your mini is still doing to you what mine is doing to me. I was in a bit of shock, but happy. i am just now getting it in my head what a great bunch of fun it is! I am not British, my mother is from Germany, and i look much like her father, so you are not to far off.

I wanted to ask you because i cannot remember, did you purchase the i pod adapter or the generic aux input? i recall you where a bit frustrated with it. Have you figured out anything to get around the issues you where having?

hope the weekend is going well for everyone!

-Corey

Thought I'd jump in about the ipod adapter vs aux port. I got the hands free bouetooth, so couldn't get the ipod adapter, so have the aux port. I'm really happy with it. My husband likes audio books, so he can listen to those on his ipod, then I can swap that out and listen to the Roady XT satellite radio. They have to share power, but that's not a big deal as you can only play one of them at a time anyway!

So my vote goes with the aux port for max flexibility. And I LOVE driving the car! it's every bit as much fun as I expected it to be!

my first fill-up...

i've had Grover for 7 days and i got my first fill-up today. I know... I know... I work from home so I don't have a daily commute. i've just been going for a little daily drive here and there.

anyway, here are my stats for the first tank (with a pic to prove it!):
- 323.3 miles
- 24.2 mpg (from OBC average consumption) - pretty close to the 25 on the sticker
- 21.3 mph (average speed) - really???!!! seems like I've been going faster

i will do the manual calculation once I get my next fill-up to see how accurate (or NOT) the OBC is.

anyone else have mileage stats?

by the way, i ran the tank pretty low. my OBC indicated a range left of about 8 miles. as I was sitting in the gas station, i read in the manual that once the range gets to 35 miles, you should fill up soon so that you don't damage the engine. (wish my dealer had told me this!) but, i didn't run out of gas, so I'm sure I'm okay.

only thing I did today that I was upset about is stopped the car, pulled the e-brake and then forgot and let out the clutch before turning the car off... (I knew I was going to do this eventually since I haven't driven a manual in a long time). so, car jumped slightly and stalled. fortunately the e-brake stopped it from hitting the curb. however, i did smell a little brake burn smell when I got out. hope I didn't do much damage to the brakes.

the other pic is the traffic jam i hit yesterday!

happy motoring PW 38ers.

Grover you're so silly! I love reading your adventures!

I took MOE on a trip to AppleHill this weekend. It was a beautiful weekend but had rain the few days before so all the parking areas were puddled up and Moe got quite dirty. I fully intended to get some pics on the winding roads with fall colors but I was just too busy... and I really didn't see any "safe" areas to pull off as it was a prime part of the season so quite busy.

As for MPG so far 2tanks running 24.3 on the first and the second (trip tank) 26.9, so doing well, the first is my normal commute tank.

I can't believe it.... but I have 1050 miles on my MINI already!! Man, I didn't even feel like I was driving that much!

I think I've been getting about 23 or so mpg... the OBC says 22 or something... I've filled up like 4 times I think... so maybe even a little better than that. But, I've been driving a little hard I guess (shifting at 4000 rpm's and stuff)

I made a post in the audio forum about my iPod questions. I want to be able to see the track names on my HK head unit and control the iPod with my MFSW, so hopefully that's a possibility!

I wonder wtf happened to white car dude???

i am with you on white car dude, who gave up/or messed up....???

Gas mileage shmimelage who cares, (ooops am i the only one who feels this way??) i will check the audio forum.. i went with the i pod adapter and after learning the play list / co-ordinationg with pre-sets on the radio i have been quite happy ( I am with you on the long sets Rach....) and the steering wheel controls work with it, so it seems this was a good purchase Three days of meetings ahead of me 8 to 6 for the next three days:( Hope all are living in the moment..... the mini moment.

edit: after reading your concerns in the audio forum, with the ipod adapter maybe your super mixes are beyond my needs... Do you Ms. rachaelstarr have CD's for sale would love to listen... i will check your site tommorow for purchase info.

everyone dance.

Hey psb,

You can find my stuff on iTunes, beatport... or in pretty much any music store

Alot of times dj's will send me demos... which are like 1 hour continuous dj sets... so being able to see the time is helpful sometimes... but i'm sure i will find a solution to this! I'm glad you guys are still posting on here, it's so fun that we all got to go through this together. Some people got their minis and ran!

First tank, just over 31 mpg (mostly highway), second tank just below 31, third tank at about 26 (almost all city driving), current tank is just above 28 at present. If I would baby it, I could easily stay over 30 but since that ISN'T why I own an MCS I'll settle for lower MPG to keep a happy face when I drive!

Still around, spending what little time I have keeping up on reading the thread, so I haven't been posting!

I also wonder what happened with WhiteCarDude. He ordered at the same dealership as us on the same day. We had no problems and got Gus three weeks ago.

We took Gus to Ikea this weekend and considered buying a bookshelf, but the box was almost 7 feet long... we are going to have to take some measurements first!
